Maryville has the best 10 year record of any school in the country. So yes they are in a category by themselves.

Then why does East Tennessee teams seems to win the championship way more than middle and west. There's not a program in middle TN anywhere near the level of Maryville. And no, I am not a Maryville fan, just an admirer of Coach Quarles and his program.

 

Again, there is Maryville and then there is everyone else..But, let's say they had to go through the best of the West and the East to get to the Playoffs. Would  it still be Maryville? as far as inj. go, there is no deeper team than Maryville.  Let's not sell the West and Middle short.

Are you saying that East Football is Dominate because of one school? Because, i see it as --there Maryville who is in a cat. by themseleves.. then there is the rest of East Tn. My Coaches told me that.

 

If you look at # of championships across all classification since the 6a classifications and private schools the break down is west: 9. Middle: 12. And East: 18. Stats don't lie so overall east tn has been more dominate than middle and west across the board. Facts are facts. Could Maryville beat any team in the east? Absolutely they could. Could they beat any team in the west or middle. The answer is the same. There are more than just Maryville in east tn that can play a little bit of football others get shadowed because of the big red machine. What Maryville has done to east tn for years middle and west tn are getting a little taste of it.

I was only talking 6 A actually. Facts don't lie. But they do lie, if the best of the West and the Middle don't play the east in the reg season.. now, tell me again.. Who is ur team again?

 

Websters definition of a fact: something that truly exists or happens. The best of the west meets Maryville in the championship. Fact. The best of the middle meets them in the semis. Fact. If we are just talking 6a then middle tn has yet to win a championship. Fact. There are a lot more 6 a teams in middle and west tn because of Nashville and Memphis. We are all just a bunch of hillbillies up here in east tn. Can't compete for anything. Who cares about regular season except to get in the play offs. Rings are what people care about. My team is Greeneville. We had to go through Maryville for years. Who is your team? I don't think middle tn people are behind you on this one either Edited by Swipes

      I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"

      Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!

      I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
