Big Games in Memphis - Week 5

Things are only going to get tougher. It's the middle of the season and there are plenty of quality games to be played. The Commercial Appeal's Dandy Dozen has Whitehaven, Ridgeway, and East listed as the number 1, 2, and 3 teams respectively in the city. The wonderful thing about that is that all three are on each other's regular season schedules. That's right ... Whitehaven will play both Ridgeway and East. Ridgeway and East will play each other later on this season. Memphis will have an opportunity to see all three face off againstr each other. The first of those three match-ups will happen this Friday when Whitehaven will travel to Halle to play Ridgeway. Let's not forget that Ridgeway and Whitehaven got into a scuffle at this summer's 7 on 7 competition. There is no love lost between these two programs.

Guess what ya'll ... I've selected ... that's right ... twelve games! This weeks Big Games in Memphis will be dubbed the Terrific Twelve. Those will be as follows:

Houston

East

Brighton

central

white station

ecs

Booneville

lausanne

mus

Mba

DA HAVEN

St. Benedict

The Commercial Appeal has a story titled "Vanderbilt suspends former Memphis East star Brian Kimbrow indefinitely" The article doesn't give any details into why he is suspended because Vandy isn't giving out specifics to the press. They (Vandy) just say that it is "conduct detrimental to the team".

One carry, one fumble, I hope he transfers to the SWAC or OVC and shines like he deserves to.

Game 1: Houston @ Bartlett

Houston by 7

Game 2: East @ Briarcrest

I foresee Home-cooking by the Saints keeping this game closer than it should be...

East by 6

Game 3: Columbia @ Brighton

If this is the Columbia Lions from South Central Tennessee I'll pick them. Can someone confirm if that's who the Cardinals are playing for me please?

Columbia by 3

Game 4: Manassas @ Central (Crump Stadium)

The Warriors will struggle with their best player either being out or not healthy but they should still take down the Tigers...

Central by 10

Game 5: White Station @ CBHS

I'm picking with Home-Cooking in mind and with the fact that I think the Spartans may have mailed their season in, HOWEVER I give myself room to change this pick by Thursday...

CBHS by 6

Game 6: USJ @ ECS

ECS by 7

Game 7: Harding @ Boonville (MS)

Can anyone speak to IF Boonville has talent or not. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THEM thus...

Harding by 3

Gane 8: Lausanne @ Tipton-Rosemark

Lausanne by 2

Game 9: Lafayette (MS) @ MUS

MUS by 7

Game 10: MBA @ Milliington

The long Bus ride should effect MBA but they likely have better horses than the Trojans

MBA by 14

Game 11: Whitehaven @ Ridgeway (Halle Stadium)

This is the MAIN EVENT in the City of Memphis. Please see the Whitehaven vs Ridgeway thread for my analysis and if you want to SMACK TALK with/against Me...

RESPECT DA HAVEN

Game 12: St. George's @ St. Benedict

BHS - This is the Purple and Gold Lions out of Columbia, TN. Last year Brighton beat them easily on their field but last week Brighton started a sophomore quarterback, I'm on the fence on this one

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
