Blackman at Hoover

If you get the chance there is a video that Boobie and some of his friends put up on youtube."Boobie tells the truth 1&2" He talks about getting rezoned for Permian, life in his foster home and step mom. He talks a little about getting paid. There was always whispers about it, as well as recruiting, by offering special prices on homes(rent) in certain areas as well as great jobs being offered to some unqualified folks. I can't say that happened, but I wouldn't deny that either.

I've seen those interviews. Very interesting. I've used the movie and book to get my son more interested in reading

WGNS will absolutely cover this game, I spoke with the TV station in AL WBAM68 while they will be airing it locally they will not be streaming it. On an interesting side note the HSH score predictor at the top of this thread once had Hoover picked by 6 is now picking Hoover by 3. Also where Hoover is now nationally ranked 115th by  an unapproved website. with Blackman coming in at 56th. Interestingly enough from a size perspective Blackman comes in the bigger team overall. .

All opinions and polls, AND Yep VERY subjective, however I like the Blaze in a shootout.

35-28 Blackman

Just talked to someone at WGNS, they will not be covering this game. They are covering Riverdale vs Smyrna and updating on the Siegel game.

Riverdale and Smyrna play on Thursday...Blackman is a Friday game with pregame at 6, Verified by WGNS as well as the guy calling the game. The receptionist told you they were not because he did not realize the schedule was changed for all other Rutherford county football to be played on Thursday due to Halloween. To my knowledge Blackman is the only Friday night game for Rutherford county schools.

Welcome to Riverdale Football!

Our game at Smyrna has been moved from Halloween night to Thursday night this week.

Nice, gotta love it...... the guy even put me on hold to confirm they weren't covering it! Glad you found someone over there that doesn't have their head up their rear!

Oh well.. everybody's head has gotta be somewhere...lol. He told me when I called that he just told somebody they weren't covering the game..I had heard a number of times Brian Barret say they had a double header this weekend covering thursday night's game and then leaving to head to Hoover for the Blackman game. So if I sounded too sure of myself I blame it on that.

Hi Guys,

1st post on your Forum, here to tell you all Blackman has a squad quite capable of beating Hoover. Looking at Blackmans strengths its Hoover's glaring weakness.  Hoover plays in  Region 3 7a in Alabama. Ive witnessed every team in the region it is weak and none of the teams can beat any of the top 5 teams in the next lower classification and Hoover has played 2 real capable opponents and lost to both of them.

Blackman is playing 2014 Hoover, not 2002,2003,2004,2005 etc those earlier squads were  machines that would annihilate opponents, this edition is not even close to that level. Dont think they are the Boogeyman they are far from that.

Defensive line tall & quick but small, Linebackers very very rangy but arm tacklers and use all their energy celebrating. They cannot handle teams running straight at them for a couple of qtrs either.  They have problems with physical Running Backs and Elusive QB's who can run and throw which you all are blessed to have.  Secondary is pretty good theycan tackle.

Offensive line is small, center is about 175lbs, and can be abused (see Miami Central film)

Starting Quarterback cant run at all, inaccurate and if 1st read isnt there he panics. He just throws it up and hopes his athlete can make a play.  Receivers have size but are average, but they are good blockers. run hard but not elusive, H-Back is a very good blocker but he tips the play. Hoover doesnt have the speed nor line to get to the edge, if Blackman shuts down Hoover run game between the tackles, Blackman wins.

Hoover's #1 advantage over Alabama opponents is numbers the average team they play has 1400-1600 and they have double that.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
