Those are called guardian caps. They supposedly absorb more of the impact on hits and thus players wearing them are less likely to get concussions. You better get used to them because everyone will be wearing them in a few years. Edited November 8, 2014 by Governors91

Couldn't help but feel a tad sorry for the lady who asked her husband going in the gate if we "are playing West Virginia after seeing the WV on the Walker Valley equipment trailer. Skeptical of her overall interest in being there.
