Congratulations to both Oakland and Blackman for great seasons, but let me say, tonight's game was disgraceful from a sportsmanship perspective. I couldn't count the number of unsportsmanlike penalties both teams received. Way too much trash talking going on. And it will cost Oakland next week against Maryville, losing the reigning defensive player of the year from 7AAA in the first quarter.

Also, I know that Jennings was upset, but everyone on Blackman's team was upset because of the loss. Shake hands and don't let the last moment be by yourself on the sideline. You are better than this.

Oakland played a great defensive game tonight, and ate up the clock with long sustained drives. Oakland forced two turnovers that I can remember and held Blackman on the one yard line for four plays.

Blackman had chances, but the WR's really did not come through tonight as a whole. Too many drops on really important downs.

Can't wait for next week. Let's go Oakland!

My first 7AAA game was a bit of a disappointment. First, the atmosphere was lacking. I have been to regular season games with more excitement from the crowd. Second, do Rutherford County teams not practice special teams? Both teams were terrible in the kicking game. Maryville will win next week on that alone. Third, do these coaches like to pay close to the vest? With ask that talent on the field I saw no offensive creativity.

Also tonight you see why out is important to take meaningful snaps under center throughout the year. Overall it was an okay game but to me it did not live up to the hype. I thought Oakland was by far the better team. 8 and 11 stood out on offense for the Patriots.

I think Oakland's kicker broke his foot last week. I agree, the atmosphere was ok. Blackman's side was rather quiet, but I think this was due to Oakland's D.

I've been a 7aaa fan for 20+ years and loved almost every minute of it until tonight! This was the game everyone has been waiting for since the final second of the first game. The coaches and players on both sides let every fan down. Both teams were so built up they couldn't play football! Blackman never did settle down! Oakland finally did half way through the third quarter and took over the game. It was the worst showing of sportsman ship I have seen in a very long time on both sides. Now Oakland has the daunting task of taking on a Maryville team that will destroy them if they come out with this same attitude! Guys I've been around since my kid was 6 years old he's 28 now and I've never been more embarrassed as a fan as I was tonight! Patriots I'm asking as a fan come out next Friday and play with all the nastiness and vigor as u need to but as a football player not a thug! I'm not a Maryville fan and I hope we beat the snot out of them come next Friday but I do respect them and their coaches and the way they play the game! GQ and his teams always seem to play with confidence and respect of the game, that's the tradition u all should strive for every time u step on the gridiron! Sorry for the rant but i love this great sport and I love every player in the 7AAA district!

Oakland's D meet the challenge. They cranked it up a few notches. Jennings looked uncomfortable most of the night. Numerous dropped balls, a couple of poor passing decisions, and two momentum killing turnovers made it that much harder for Blackman to move the ball. Got to tip your hat to McDaniel he had a better game plan than Shad. I agree with an earlier post that both teams never really settled down. 19 penalties between both teams with the vast majority being of the 15 yard unsportsmanlike kind. Blackman had the majority of those with 12 penalties and 143 penalty yards. But hats off to Oakland they came out and did what needed to be done to slay the giant. Proved people wrong. To include myself. Even with 2:55 remaining in the 4th I still felt Blackman was going to make a run. Again Oakland's D shut the door on that . Congrats Pats!!!

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
