CLASS A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP: UNION CITY VS. COALFIELD

That game did as much to help UC in the finals as any single thing.  The defensive lineman that was suspended for the title game was monumental.  A small 1a team can't afford to be shorthanded on the line and LB's going into a game with U.C.  as well as they run the veer.

yes that was bad for s.pitt i always disliked s.pitt because one, we could never beat them and two i thought they were really 2a playing 1a, but thats not true after doing a little reserch, s.pitt is a legit 1a powerhouse and a tradition rich program, much respect.

I just want to apologize for some of the things that some UC posters have said about Stewart. He is a fine offensive lineman and is deserving of the Mr Football Award. I don't understand why anyone has to say anything other than that. Our Jernigan is another very good offensive lineman and from what Atlas posted it sounds like they both know more about how to handle this situation than some of the posters on this thread. It will be fun to watch these boys go at it come Friday. UC posters let's act like we have been here before.

i can promise you that wont happen, wake up men, no one has dominated stewart ever in high school our other lineman probably but not stewart, i watched the live feed of mr football today zach reached out to shake hands with jernigan and jernigan just stood there no hand shake, whats that about? sour hes the runner up?

there's a first time for everything. I can guarantee you Jernigan will do things to him this game that's never been done. According to you. Jernigan was being told which way to go on stage and didn't see Stewart's hand sticking out. ####-umed wrong.

That is a lie about Jernigan not shaking hands with Stewart. They shook hands several times before and after the presentation, and talked with each other more than any other players there. That, my fellow coach T'ers is the truth. I was there in person, not over some live feed.

Granted there can be mass confusion during ceremonies and people are being moved around by ushers and not recognize a hand being offered when not looking at it. Definitely no disrespect given if perceived that way in tv/Internet.

well thats not a lie, i seen the live feed clearly but i will thank you for further clarification and will totally believe what you just explained, i just seen a small part of it you were there and thats what i really wanted to hear hand shakes and sportsmanship, thank you for your account and explanation and your probably right moving the kids around and etc... i like your account much better than mine.......

Thanks. No bad intentions at all. Look forward to seeing him play. Fine young man and I got to shake his hand as well. I'll root for him at UT, just not this week.

    • Worst thing SC could do is get rid of Dyer. I agree with everything said above.
    • Jada Hart, Jasmine Bailey and Kaitlyn Patterson the first two being PG's are all good guards and can handle ball pressure and are good players. Raven Wells will be a good post. There were games this summer where any one of the one's I mentioned were in double figures. Gibson County will control TO's much better this year and they will press more and get back to playing faster. AA is down across the board. I have been all over watching ball. Alcoa jumped to AAA and Jackson County moved down. to A. No telling who wins it this year. I agree Union City, Westview and Gibson County will be a dogfight and must see basketball. Poster insuated that Gibson County has a mental block against Westview. Well give me Maddie Gray and we line up last year and they wouldn't have won a game. Let's see how Westview does this year. Their starting five last year had three transfers in it. Rogers from Obion, Trevathon from Greenfield and Gray from South Fulton. Looks like they swung and missed with the girl from Florida this year so let's see how they do playing with kids from Westview. Gibson County has a really good 7th grade class this year.I have done learned you play with what you got and work them hard and develop them and see what happens. Just keep battling and see what happens. I like our team this year. Very athletic. Every year is the same with injuries and can be catistrophic to any. I watched GC all summer long. South Side and GC was very evenly matched and was a classic war.We had some quality wins this summer. Beat Huntingdon, Henry County, Bowling Green, Liitle Rock Central as well as a couple other quality Kentucky Teams. Westview's talent pool may not be what it has been without transfers the next few.
    • I think Gibson County is a top five team this next season but I do agree they will drop off a lot after this year.  Westview lost a ton and will be down this season and hopes of returning to glass house again is slim.  The run they have had is super impressive!
    • My take on GC for this year: Based on what I saw last year and heard this summer, I’m not sure GC could surprise me next year with any outcome. Wilkins is a great coach - they could win the district and region and go to Murfreesboro. They could also come in third in the district and not get out of region. The two returning starters are very talented but Guru is right that they didn’t always play hard last year. The other three starters are good enough in their roles for GC to be successful. There is no depth. Foul trouble could be a problem - Wilkins may avoid it by playing a lot of zone. An injury would be catastrophic. I hope they have a big year and Wilkins rides off into the sunset in Murfreesboro because, without some significant transfers, there are some tough years coming in the next few.
    • Daniel Boone coming down to 3A makes this much tougher. They added a couple transfers to the Flores girl. Cocke Co, Northview, Greeneville, and Daniel Boone - only two headed to Murfreesboro.
