That 93 Grundy county team was the best that I remember on the mtn. Had a pair of twins, was it nunleys? That year Kingston pulled off the huge upset and beat mc 7-6 in a monsoon. On a dry field they would have hammered Kingston. Grundy got beat by McMinn central I think in an upset that same week and the next week would have been a rematch with mc vs gc. McMinn central Ended up finishing runner up that year losing to Springfield in the finals. That was one of the toughest districts that year with three quality teams in it.

Was it 3 or 4 TDs called back? I remember 3 for sure. As an MC alum I know you remember the controversy on that 4th and goal call lol

93 was indeed a wild year. That region with Marion, Grundy and McMinn Central was loaded. All three of those teams could run the football. It was the first year of the new classification and play-off system. Regions were cross bracketed and made the early part of the playoffs a lot of fun. McMinn Central who finished 5-5 went on the road to York and won in an upset. Then went to Seymour who was ranked in the top 5 and beat them. Got to the quarters and played Grundy. It was wet and foggy that night. When they announced at 1/2 time that Kingston had beaten Marion, the Grundy fans went crazy. McMinn Central scored 2 or 3 times in the second half to upset the Yellow Jackets.

Hope that Grundy has found them a coach and will give him  a chance.

The Beaver was someone that wanted the job or was close to someone that did. His sole purpose on here was to bash Bryant. I've got Grundy finishing no better than 3-7 this season.

The interview talked about him getting some old buddies to assist him this year. Could be good or it could be a train wreck, and that's where I would lean towards. Just because Tate is going to surround himself with hometown guys that were decent ball players doesn't mean they know how to coach. This one will be interesting to watch.......

LMBO I agree with you. Just looking at their schedule I don't think The Beaver goes better than 3-7 at the absolute best. Probable 2-8 or 1-9 season looming in Grundy County.

    • All high school coaching postions are year to year. At least in public schools.
    • Yes in the regular season. But once Westview's young kids got the experience from the season, they only lost to Dyersburg by a field goal in the playoffs. Westview was young last year. They will be tough this year
    • That is absolutely not the truth.  Few if any college coaches or school administrators want to be in the middle of legal proceedings if there is any way possible to avoid being caught in the middle.  With that being said I have two questions: 1.  Why would a coach remove any player from the team for using the F WORD?  Yes, I fully understand the player must be held accountable for her actions.  Maybe extra running and even a one game suspension but if every kid or coach that used improper language was kicked off the team or fired, they would have no players or coaches available to play the games. 2.  If there was truly another player or coach that witnessed this situation, and they agree with the player then by all means the coach should be held accountable for their actions.
    • 1st round exit?        For real ?!?!?!                     Oh wait.....    are we talking band or football?
    • Assistant football staff still the same? Any replacement for Brian Beaubien? Who will be the DC? Will there be anything going on this spring with football? I go watch practice often.
