With "open enrollment" it does make it a little more difficult but for you to say it doesn't exist year in and year out is like Brady and Bellicheck saying they had no idea the balls were deflated.... :popcorneater:

Open enrollment only takes place when a student-athlete leaves 8th grade he then can enroll in a high school of his choice. Once he enrolls at that school he can only transfer if there is a bonafide change of address.

When you have a program that is producing in the classroom and off the court middle school parents wants their child to attend there. What coach would tell the parent no.

Open enrollment is for every student not just athletes.  And just because you are accepted via enrollment to a school does not mean you can play sports.  The request for athletic participation still must be submitted to the TSSAA for approval.  And sometimes, regardless of the situation, TSSAA declines the request to play.

It is open to every student but since this is a basketball board that is why I mentioned athletes. You have to submit the name  but if the student passed to the 9th grade then he is elgible. The TSSAA will not turn down a student enrolling in your school from the 8th grade.

Galilee that's actually not correct. We had a kid transfer from Jackson Christian School after his 8th grade year 3 years ago. Under normal circumstances he would have been eligible BUT he practiced 4 days of Spring Football with JCS as an 8th grader and was therefore ruled ineligible to play his Freshman year of Football.

Let clarify. if your school highest grade is 8th grade. after he leaves that school in an open enrollment district he can enroll at his choice of school. If your school is 7-12, am 8th grader cannot practice with your varsity team andthe transfer. 95% of all middle schoolsin Memphis are 6-8, therefore an 8th grader is elgible to enroll at the high school of his choice.

The thing about basketball in Memphis, and I'm mainly referring to AAA, there's two or three teams that are considered the better teams and then all but two or three are capable of beating the better team's on any given night. How many close games have Hamilton and Southwind had this season with other Memphis teams? Let's speak hypothetically and say Southwind has a starter that should go to Ridgeway and let's assume he went to Ridgeway like he's suppose to, then Rideway would likely be a contender in AAA instead of Southwind. My point is that... a Memphis team will win the state championship most of the time anyways. Hate it if you want to but it's a fact.
