Phillip shadowens new head coach at William blount

Cobb was not a can't miss coming out of hs. Very good player but not a can't miss. A 17 yr old sr who was a late bloomer. KY already had inroads to alcoa. Being able to get on field at multiple positions at KY was huge. We will have to disagree on the bigger school meaning more exposure. I doubt college coaches go to games looking for prospects. I'd guess they are attending to see a kid who has "the numbers".

I disagree. Many times college coaches may be looking at a certain player and a different player may catch their eye. Not so much D1 as smaller schools.

That is a definite and I would think it happens alot. I think that's how the vols ended up with Arian Foster. I was talking about coaches having time to go watch two high schools looking for help during the college season only because the schools are big.

There was a classic game between WB and Maryville in 2007! Would love to see a game like that on ESPN! It was a great game and the atmosphere was electric.

What's even more amazing about that game is that I have talked to so many people that said the field goal was good because they were setting right behind the goal post when it went through. I even had someone mention that this week. All I wished was if I had a dollar for everyone that has told me they were behind the goal post that night I would be rich.jfahx5.jpg

Barney,

There were lots of people that were right behind that goal post. People were crammed around the fence like sardines in a can.

Kentucky promised Randall a shot at quarterback.

UT would not make that promise -- so off to Kentucky.

I was standing on the fence behind the goal post.

Definitely not going to see "Alnwick" vs maryville on espn. If you watch the games espn has from Texas, Florida, California, or mix matched states they're so much more entertaining than Alcoa not throwing a single pass etc

But that '07 game was extremely entertaining. A good WB team vs maryville would be a good espn game in my opinion.

    • Im asking everyone to keep roy whited and his family in your prayers. Coach whited won back to back state championships at white county in 98-99. He is very well liked and respected in this area. For those of you that dont know he went missing 3 days ago. No one knows where he is. His truck was found in a rural part of the county. Thanks again. We are all very concerned.
    • West would be a good team to get behind if they can pull it off again like last year. That championship game last year was awesome.
    • I say that because he stepped out of a MUCH better situation on his own than he would see at least his first 3 years at DCA and it would take at least that much to bring him back to coaching. There are other fish in the sea, but again money talks. Need to fix the girls hoops too. Now I'll try again. Who has Pierce locked in for his staff? Hearing a McGavock man but not the Iceman.
    • I’ve heard mostly good things from the gridiron. Lots of optimism. It sounds like the portal has mostly helped, though there are a few expected defections. Comeback year!
    • Rudesell 1 year at Crockett. Coach Tate 2 weeks a Bradford. South Gibson supposedly going with jcs middle school coach. Which isn’t who I thought would get it, I know the top 2 was between him and Obion girls head coach.
