Blazer, If you're team is one dimension,You want go very far and in this new conference you'll end up at the bottom of the pack.No matter who ya team is.

I don't disagree, it's just interesting that passing was used very little in 5 of the 2014 state title games in Cookeville.

DB may have one of the top running offenses in the state. Their loaded at the running back position and sounds like the o-line is progressing nicely. Gotta' get that passing game going because teams will be loading up that line of scrimmage.

I guess I spoke a day to soon. DB's running offense just got a lot thinner. The defensive backfield as well.

If that is the young man I'm thinking of,I hope it works out for him because he is a great prospect and the coaches have bent over to help him.Also.this year was to get DB close and next year a run at something special. So far from last years great 9th grade team DB has lost.Their fastest player, their biggest and D1 prospect.A third player last week,he was a two way starter on the line and the strongest player on DB's roster as a 9th grader in spring and played as a  hurt starter in the spring game.Nomatter if it's a family matter ,coach or whatever. This will kill the team if it keeps adding up.

Hopefully I'm wrong but it could be that the nucleus from that freshman team is already lost. Now you figure in injuries that are bound to happen and at least a couple that lose interest or get booted. You go from a great group to a average group. I can't remember DB loosing this many "really good players" in such a short time period.

What's going on up there? Kids just quitting or disciplinary issues?

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
