CoachT
Please help me, and sportswriters across the state, in identifying players worthy of consideration in Class 1A and 2A. Here are the directions as sent by the TSSAA. Positive comments carry much more weight in this discussion than negative ones. For the ninth consecutive year, the Tennessee Titans continue to serve as the title sponsor for the Mr. Football Awards. The TSSAA is very appreciative of the generosity of the Titans' organization for their financial support of these awards and for its wide-ranging support of student-athletes across our state. The format for the awards will see a change this year. Four semi-finalists will be announced for each category and each classification on November 5. There are six classifications in Division I and two in Division II. With "Back of the Year" and "Lineman of the Year" for each classification, as well as the "Kicker of the Year" award, that makes for a total of 17 award categories. Two finalists in each category will be announced on November 16 by Mike Keith on TitansOnline.com. The two finalists for each award will be recognized at the Tennessee Titans Mr. Football awards luncheon at Nissan Stadium, where the winners will be announced. You are asked to submit the name of up to three players in each classification for the Mr. Football Lineman of the Year Award and the Mr. Football Back of the Year Award. You are also asked to submit three players, regardless of classification, for the Mr. Football Kicker of the Year award. It is not necessary to vote for three players in each category, but that is your option. If you feel an individual player is one of the top three players in both categories, then you may list him in both. These votes are a nominating process only. A selection committee will meet to choose Mr. Football Lineman, Back and Kicker of the Year. In order for your ballot to be counted, it must be submitted no later than THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29. Please take some time, discuss this with your staff and fill out the online ballot. Thank your for your help in honoring Tennessee's finest. TheAmbassador
The TSSAA messed up with this decision. Only 2 kids per category go to the awards. One winner and one loser. That's kind of tough. Unfortunately SP doesn't have anyone for consideration this season.

I haven't posted on the T in so long that I forgot my last username! I'm happy to be back and enjoy this website. I have been reading the unofficial Mr. Football thread and the names that pop up the most are Preston Rice from Wayne County and Dresser Winn from Dresden. I have actually been fortunate enough to watch both play, Preston Rice vs. Clarksville Academy and Winn vs. Union City. Being a neutral fan and just lover of the game of football I don't see how either of these two players are left out of the ceremony for Class A Mr. Football. If Rice beats HHS or at least has a big game it would be tough not for him not to get it. Good luck to both kids!
Intense
Andrew Goldsmith from Trinity Christian Academy. He has over 1500 yards rushing and numerous TD's. Also one of the leading tacklers in West Tennessee as well as 2A. His name should be in the conversation for sure.
GeneralForrest
Goldsmith epitomizes MVP status. Can you imagine Trinity's results without him?

bhhvols
Brantley Clendenin, FB Union City 1223 yds. 175 rushes 11 TDs 7 yds./att. These numbers are not eye popping, but please consider the fact that he probably played in the 2nd half of only two games this year (Trenton Peabody and Dresden). In the remaining seven games of this schedule were mercy rule games so obviously Coach Bowling did not want to run up the score just to inflate stats for individuals. Dresser Winn has no doubt had a tremendous year but was not the best player when they played Union City. This was proven on the field so there should not be a "what if" situation when comparing the two. Is my opinion biased? No doubt but the stats do back up my opinion.
