It is interesting how many people outside of Warren County and Maryville wanted to comment on this thread. Giving the insanity of the playoff system and seeding, the comments are somewhat expected.  However, what really matters is what transpired on the field.  The coaches and players know a game was played, and both teams probably have mutual respect for each other.

Although it may have been an off week in some respects for Maryville, Warren County played its best game of the season.  No question that Maryville is the best team they played.  All that matters now is that each team moves forward in respective ways.  Warren County is a better team for having played the tough teams they faced all season.

The players and coaches of Warren County deserve a pat on the back, some recognition for playing hard in their last game.  Warren County may have had another losing season, but they took several steps forward as a team.

Great post Stan. When those Pioneers took the field and I saw their roster size I thought wow what a mismatch this really is. Well you can't measure heart and Warren County had plenty of it. Coach had them ready to play and that they did to the final whistle. Followed several WC ladies into the stadium wearing #20 jerseys and he did not disappoint. That guy could play anywhere. Much respect and best of luck to them in the development of that program. Edited by mhs

A Warren County fan posted this on Facebook.

I am the mother of one of the Warren County Pioneer football players who made the long drive to Maryville High School last night.

I just wanted to take a moment to say that I was impressed by your band's patriotic performances, polite fans, impressive facilities, the officials' professionalism, and your football team's graciousness.

Maryville's good sportsmanship was a breath of fresh air, and although my Pioneers were defeated, it was a good end to the season for us. Football is a brotherhood, and your young men and their coaches are a great testament to this.

I wish Maryville well in the playoffs.
