Just happened to be trolling your thread. UC will be 2A in 2017. Best of luck to ya'll this season. Hope to see you last Friday in November.

We will both get a little taste at the Waverly scrimmage the end of July. We didn't really like that taste there last year but we got better they the year. I'm with u for late November.

Just because the west is loaded with several good teams don't guarantee a gold ball, it only takes one good team in the east that's as good as several in the west to win it. The only advantage to having so many good teams on one side of the state is they will be battle tested by the time they make it to cookeville where that one or two teams in the east may cake walk into the championship.

89, what's up man? How is your boy looking at RT and how is the rest of the Oline coming along?

Coach Rice gave me the list of games today for our Summer scrimmages and WOW we are going to go up against some really good competition.

We got...

Waverly & Union City on July 28th

Giles County on Aug. 5th (@ Home)

Columbia Academy on Aug. 9th (@ Home)

Fairview Jamboree on Aug. 12th

All of these teams made the playoffs last yr and they had a combined record of 42-17 between them. Giles is 4A, Fairview is 3A & Waverly is 2A. So we will see some great quality opponents to prep the boys for the season and playoffs!

Silvey is back? Ugh. He was a force last year. It appeared he got hurt later in the season though. He better now?

Our best receiver is back also.We really didn't lose any skill players that will hurt us.Did lose a couple big lineman but that was our weak spot last year.

We have 61 kids on the team as of right now for the Wildcats!

That's a heck of alot of players for any 1A or even 2A school. Especially when you consider we only got 320 kids in the HS. That's around 40% of the boys in the school that play football!

WC has averaged close to sixty players a year for several years now. The participation has been great!

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
