Football is about matchups. Maryville did not struggle with Fulton (the QB was a freshman) or Oakland (never tried to spread them out; instead tried to run off tackle against them all night).

The years that Alcoa gives Maryville fits are those where they are capable of making plays in the passing game offensively. Who knows what happens in last year's game if Alcoa has it 1st & 10 in the redzone after hitting a huge play. That holding call was the difference in the game.

Ravenwood gave Maryville fits the last two years because of their ability to make Maryville play in space against athletic receivers.

Some what agree with you except the 2009 Alcoa and Maryville game when Alcoa just lined up and pounded the rock for 41 points. The biggest thing about beating a team like Maryville or Alcoa is playing mistake free football and everyone playing assignment football. Coaching has alot to do with that

I heard back in the winter that was a possibility. But I don't know if it actually happened.

32H, I've done some recon this morning. Seems that the transfer from the North did happen. And it seems from the Deep South as well. Looks like Ole Stars tripped and fell in Alabama...
