South Pittsburg vs Marion (Grider against that Mathis man)

Jasper has a very good team. My question is this, with a team that can throw the ball and has the receivers to make plays if we have success throwing it early then will that front 7 attack change? Last night Meigs didn't have a prayer. Jasper's linemen I was watching every play they really get off the ball well, get low, and drive. The trenches will be huge in this game! Have to love this game!!!

Marion line and backers will be the difference in this game . Not sure our offense can keep the pocket from collapsing long enough to pass or to get a runner to the edge...This could get out of hand early.

agree with this. I left at halftime but saw enough to know our team is in for a battle. Most certainly the underdog!

Pegleg they are just so disciplined on defense. That's the impressive part. Also, for some reason I've noticed a huge trend of people who went and played at SP now have their younger kids playing up the road. Not a good trend. They have the mojo going on up there. Hopefully kickoff will not be as close as it gets

Wasn't suprised with the MC VS MC score at all. The Pirates will have to battle up hill against the #1 ranked warriors. I think we will see the score a little closer than people think. We got to eliminate the big play and make Jasper drive the ball. The more you can do this the bigger chance for a turn over or two. Think we will  have to have a few. I love our wide outs especially #10 wouldn't trade him for anyone on the field Friday night. The boy is a player! I don't expect much out of the new guy. The pirates might have troube moving the ball but they do have big play possibilities in a few places. Hoping for no injuries.

I never posted a prediction but after I watched Meigs film this past week I knew it wouldn't be close. I was able to watch SP against BC this morning and you guys will be tough to contain. So many weapons to try to cover. McQueen could be a wildcard but just not sure how much he will be able to contribute in a short amount of time. Holland has grown into a very good qb but not sure will have the time for the long pass plays. #10 is a stud. He will make some plays Friday for sure. #9 is very impressive. Almost reminds me of a young Kirkendoll. Can't name all the kids because this is already too long haha. Looking for a good game Friday. Toss up in my opinion.

Jasper's first test of the season for sure... we are the underdog and we should play that roll..

We need to hope for a couple breaks early, I have trust in our coaching staff to find things other teams have over looked and put our kids in the best position possible.. but the kids have to block, and tackle.. players make plays.

"2 years ago while playing South Pittsburg at Berne Stadium the Marion County Warriors had a commanding lead then all of a sudden the lights go out. Let's come together as a community and help South Pittsburg and Berne Stadium out this season and make sure it doesn't happen again. I know people want the Pirates of Pittsburg to see the scoreboard plain and clear this season. Also, by helping keep the lights on ( with no delay ) the mercy rule will go into effect a lot quicker and the game will be over a lot faster. That way we can all get home and hear Dave Staley on Sideline WrapUp talk about how MC completely shut down SP."

A GoFundMe effort to keep the lights on, floating around the internet.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
