WaCoJaCo
Okay I’ll admit everyone had high hopes for the team this year but it may turn into a mediocre season after all. But take heart, hang on during the rough times and things will improve next year. Why? Because it seems the T$$AA is going to chuck the super 32 in 2017. Now we don’t know exactly what that means for DB but there is a good possibility that the old Big7 Conference may be reestablished. And if that happens then next year will be a good year. Again, you forgot to put the "lol" at the end of your post.
SweetScience
Still can't believe DB lost this game. I thought they'd come out for blood after getting beat by us, and coming home. Have to give WB credit, though. They earned it. Something just isn't right @ DB and hasn't been since that great year in 2012 they had. plowboy2
DB will continue to struggle as they have for several years now. A change at the top is needed in the worst way.Remodeling, adding more seats, does not improve football leadership. Gilligan said himself, that they need to do a better job in preparing the team. Cudos; That's a good start.
BarneySox2007
I watched the scores last night on my phone and after I saw the WB score and also the CAK game in the first half I thought those games were done and over with. Unbelievable comebacks.
Governm
Nice try!Waco,You have to give the Govs at least a little bit of credit. Last night, there were a number of times when the DB defense absolutely laid the lumber to our receivers as the ball got to them and they still made catches anyway. Face it, the Govs were clutch and made plays when they had to. That was the difference in the game last night.
jake
Last night was my first visit to DB....What a venue for high school football!!! Congrats to the boys from WB, was proud that they continued to battle when things didn't start out good for them. Good luck to DB the rest of the season, you guys were first class hosts. BarneySox2007
Dose anyone from Blount County know if they still show the replays on channel 3 during the week anymore. I knew for years they did but haven't checked the past year or so. If they do what teams do they show now and when do they show them. WaCoJaCo
Waco, You have to give the Govs at least a little bit of credit. Last night, there were a number of times when the DB defense absolutely laid the lumber to our receivers as the ball got to them and they still made catches anyway. Face it, the Govs were clutch and made plays when they had to. That was the difference in the game last night. Here's where I'll give you credit. Your team was picked to finish last in the conference. Obviously that's not going to happen. You guys have had a pretty rough go at it the past several years so you finally went out and got you a coach. So tell me, has the coaching made a difference yet or are you just getting better athletes? I know there was a major mismatch in coaching last night. Up here they say it's the kids fault. DB just doesn't have the athletes anymore or it's a down year and they'll get better sort of thing. Seems like DB is starting to loose a lot of players to transfer and some good ones just quitting. I know I here a lot of the chatter about you losing players to Maryville in the past but do you see a difference with the new coaching staff and maybe more players wanting to stay at home because of it? As for as laying the wood to you receivers, well I think the proper way to defend the pass would be to actually prevent the receiver from catching the ball by knocking the ball away. You allow the receiver the position to make the catch and then you hope you can hit him hard enough to knock the ball out. And thats a hit from a 150lb. defensive back. Here's the way DB has always played pass defense. They line up 10 yards off the receiver, stand there and let the receiver run by them, let the receiver make the catch, then try and tackle him. That's it in a nutshell.
WaCoJaCo
Would you like to explain the nice try comment? Your post was full of excuses and then you said "not to make excuses". You were right about the pass defense. It has not improved nor will it ever improve. And that is where they lost the game.
