Just watch the video and smile. Horton will go down in Belfry lure once his career is over.He has been a standout since his Freshman year and has just made game changing play after game changing play. He has several offers but the Power 5 offer hasn't came yet despite dominating at The Opening in Columbus. Tremendous football IQ.. the knock is his height and wingspan but the kid is simply a winner.

I like this guy

Not saying Belfry will hold Catholic to 14 like they did last year, but they DID hold Catholic to 14 last year. Catholic and Belfry are both better than last year IMO, but the game is decided by points, not yardage. TOP and the ability for Belfry to finish drives and not have a fumble fest will be real important for the Pirates. Go down there and turn it over a bunch and it will be a long night for the Big Red.

You are correct but this is not last years team. If any team turns it over it's going to be a long night. Be safe in your travels. The weather is going to be very nice unlike last year. Edited by QSouth89

Catholic has home side only bleachers. If you are planning on going you better get there at 5 Knoxville time.

When Catholic moved to West Knoxville in 2000 there was only 250 kids in the school so at that time there was no need for more bleachers. The way the campus is designed I'm not sure where more bleachers could be placed, but a few of the East Tennessee schools have one sided bleachers (Bearden, Central and William Blount come to mind but they have a much larger venue). Not sure what happened on the previous post.

Last year right before playing Belfry, Catholic played Fulton. They held the Irish to 23 points. Belfry held them to 14 points.

This years Catholic scored 69 points on Fulton in basically 3 qtrs. This is a whole different animal.

Last time a highly talked up KY team, and defending state champion meet up with a TN defending state champion was Bell Co. and Alcoa. Alcoa can home with the win.

I'm hoping this year's Catholic team can do the same!!

For the record that Bell team was solid, but not great

They lost in the State Semi's that year and had to replace something like 5 or 6 starters each way from their 2008 team. They were a team full of good players but not exactly littered with talent or explosive.

Belfry is returning 9 starters each way and is both talented and explosive.

You are also missing one other matchup against the Defending State Champs. Three years ago Belfry went to CAK and beat CAK 27-21 despite the Pirates entering missing 5 starters each way due to injury. CAK was the defending State Champions. Most of these Belfry Seniors were Freshman on that team with Horton, Bentley, Catron, and Woolum all starting

Don't see Belfry running away with it like last year, but also don't see Catholic continuing their video game scores.

For the record that CAK team ended up with a losing record. They lost to Alcoa 51-17 the week after Belfry. They also lost again to Alcoa 42-14 in the playoffs.

This year between these teams will be very interesting. Both are certainly the odds on favorites to win their respective divisions. Both are ranked #1 going in. Those rankings are well deserved.

They are limited by the power lines on the east end of the stadium. The home side doesn't extend as far towards the east.

You must have another team in mind, they didn't play Belfry.

The last time Bell and Belfry played was 1998. Belfry won 14-13 in the playoffs..

Bell was in 4A at the time in 2009, Belfry was in 3A. FWIW, had they played Bell would have absolutely killed Belfry though that season. 2009 is the only year since 2003 that Belfry failed to even reach the Semi-Finals. That Belfry team went 8-4 and was the worst team Belfry has had since before 2000.

Bell dropped to 3A in 2012 but has never been able to hold up their end of the bargain to advancing to play Belfry. Since Bell has joined 3A they have never advanced out of their Region whereas Belfry has went on to 3 Titles and a Runner-Up in that time. They are in the same Semi-State now but the Bell program has hit rock bottom unfortunately.

I hate seeing it. Bell has always been an excellent program, but they are extremely low right now. Talent pool is way down and they had all sorts of coaching drama where they ended up firing their Head Coach and when noone would take the job they even tried offering it back to the guy they had just fired. He essentially laughed in their face and went to Corbin (a team in their District) as an Assistant Coach.

    • Yes in the regular season. But once Westview's young kids got the experience from the season, they only lost to Dyersburg by a field goal in the playoffs. Westview was young last year. They will be tough this year
    • That is absolutely not the truth.  Few if any college coaches or school administrators want to be in the middle of legal proceedings if there is any way possible to avoid being caught in the middle.  With that being said I have two questions: 1.  Why would a coach remove any player from the team for using the F WORD?  Yes, I fully understand the player must be held accountable for her actions.  Maybe extra running and even a one game suspension but if every kid or coach that used improper language was kicked on the team or fired, they would have no players or coaches available to play the games. 2.  If there was truly another player or coach that witnessed this situation, and they agree with the player then by all means the coach should be held accountable for their actions.
    • 1st round exit?        For real ?!?!?!                     Oh wait.....    are we talking band or football?
    • Assistant football staff still the same? Any replacement for Brian Beaubien? Who will be the DC? Will there be anything going on this spring with football? I go watch practice often.
    • Their feeder programs are in the best shape they've ever been.
