2017 1A Favorites?

I quoted and responded to a post about cruising to the semifinals. SP has taken a step back the last three seasons from where they were from 2007-2013.

But with all the heavyweights going to 2a, sp will cruise, mark my word bass. Gordy isnt the gordy of old.

I agree. But this is 1A ball you can go from 0 to 60 in just one season

I fully expect Huntingdon to represent the west this year. Dresden will be good and Lake County will be at least a quaterfinal team. Wayne Co will also be in the hunt in the west. Coalfield on paper looks the strongest in the east. So. Pitt and Greenback will also be major players in the east. Gordonsville is my sleeper in the east. In my opinion Huntingdon will defeat Coalfield in the title game.

Right there with you. Pearson from Huntingdon is probably the best back in the state in 1-A. If anyone has someone else in mind I'm all ears but he runs so much like Yates from Dresden. . But faster imo

WC returns two senior backs in Davis and Harris along with several more that are able to tote the ball well, WC won't be short on speed this year but won't have a 200 plus pounder to pound it like they have the past few years but I look for the offensive line to be bigger and better this year to block for them

Honestly I've never seen a Huntingdon offensive line that bad. If nothing else Huntingdon always has a good line

Yes, but we were talking specifically about the semifinals when you mentioned WC in the context of Gordonsville/SP playoff match ups.  I agree that WC is a probable 2017 semifinal team from the West depending on how the brackets fall.

I was replying to the post about Gville playing WC tough last year in the playoffs
