Class A State Tournament

Looks like a good group of teams. Should be an interesting state tournament. Would love to see a Van Buren vs Clay Co state tournament game as I think the results would Be different based on how VB played Pickett last night who should've upset Clay County in the Region 4A championship.

Clay is 6-0 with every win by atleast 21 points the last 3 years. Including a 28 point win at VB this year.

The region championship was the 4th meeting between PC and Clay. Clay destroyed PC two times during the season and by 15 during the district championship. So of course one game will eventually be closer.

I gurantee Clay is the last team VB wants to see first round. Since 2008 Clay is 18-0 vs Van Buren 😉. With an average margin of victory by 20ppg. But sure we would take it.

Wouldn't be too overly confident. It was YOUR coach last year who said the last place he'd want to play a substate game at is Van Buren Co.

I've witnessed almost every game between Van Buren & Clay the past 9 years. The games have been rather close up until the fourth quarter when VB ran out of steam or Clay's press Defense got to them & caused too many turnovers in a row. You don't think Van Buren Co would come into a State Tournament game more prepared than the Regular Season?

The game consists of 4 full quarters. What makes you think Van Buren will have "more steam" in the tournament than they had during the regular season?

So it's set:

GCA

Harriman

Clay Co

Van Buren

Loretto

Columbia Academy

Humboldt

Mitchell

Mitchell is king until knocked off. Should be a competitive tourney in the glass house.

Thoughts?

Hope Mitchell and Humboldt are on opposite sides of the bracket....I think that'll be the Championship game. Mitchell is still King until dethroned.

I'm not saying it would be a 20 point blow out but 18-0 last 8 years and 6-0 since Mills and Key have played against each other. VB doesn't match up well with Clay because simply Mills is all you guys have and he is countered by Key with more production.

Coach Edwards is right who would want to go into VB for a winner take all one game. It's a tough place to play but 18-0 the past 9 years so I would like our chances.

    • Why? Low pay. Low budget thanks to the Rotary milking the programs revenue. Foul smell. There are other negative things... Positives: the players and being toward the top of the classification numbers wise.
    • What we have here is an influx of outsiders raining down on the town of Maryville like a swarm of locust trying to change our culture into the same crap they moved away from. I have no issues with anyone coming here but don't bring your politics with you. Most people around here never pay attention to the elections and keep letting the same ole rats and vermin right back in the back door and wonder why things are like they are. The problem at Maryville High is mainly due to letting outsiders get a foothold on control and shove their agenda down everyone's throat. Anyone that leaves there or let's say ranoff are replaced with an outsider with the same mindset. Eventually Maryville High will never be the same as it once was which I'm beginning to believe already but it's only chance of survival are to recruit people that will get in there and reverse the damage that has already happened.
