Mondo-safety was at the scoreboard end of the field, missed field goal was at the opposite end.  Funny story one of my best friends is the guy who missed the field goal.  One morning i was going fishing and meeting him at his house and I ran into Ed Rice (country ham master) at the gas station and he had been to the gallatin/mj game the night before (maybe 2012???) and knew that I was on the team for the 2-0 game.  Was talking about how good of a game it was and then got on the 2-0 game.  He said "I was standing in the corner of the end zone and that boy kicked the ball to me."  I laughed all the way to my buddies house and told him about it.  He had some choice words for Mr. Rice

The 2-0 game in my opinion was not only the game of the year but the two best teams in the state that year in old AAA.

No arguments there. Not knowing any better we didn't arrive until game time and had to stand at the back of the 5 deep that surrounded the stadium.  Gallatin suppporters can answer this one, what was the largest crowd ever at the Waveyard? I was in high school when they played JCM at Rothrock Stadium in Jackson in the mid 70's in what was reported the largest crowd ever to see a game in West TN outside of Memphis.

Mondo, that game with Mt Juliet might be the most famous game ever played at the Waveyard.  10000 was the attendance between the then ranked #1 and #2 team.  Unfortunately that was just a hair before my time.  Only ones to come close were the 89' game versus Whites Creek in the playoffs.  They brought in extra bleachers for the end zone and they were packed.  And the Stratford game in 91' in the playoffs.  It was billed as Nashville vs Gallatin.  Both of those games were said to have around 10000 as well.  With that many people with no track makes one loud atmosphere.

    • Pickett is good, may have a Mr. Football like season if he’s used correctly. One of the best teams Marion has fielded in a while. I think they go 12-1 and loose to ER.  ER has better players at almost every position. If they play discipline this year, they win soundly. If they don’t though…Marion could sneak away with it.
    • I’m betting the house on the Indians. Pickett and Co will be the only team to challenge the Indians in the East. Huntingdon can in the West. I think Brooks goes 15-0 and has the first perfect season and state championship in ER history.
    • Sounds like a great opportunity has opened up for the football team.  With the head coach of the diamond rebels making it official and quitting this week, there should be some room for the gridiron guys to benefit. I assume the administration won’t continue paying six figures to two former coach that quit to continue teaching drivers Ed. Thats pretty good money that could be redirected toward the football program. Also, with the more recent policies of pushing kids to only play one sport, abolishing the baseball program altogether would help on Friday nights in the fall. There is some decent speed on that baseball team that should’ve been playing on Fridays IMO. I’m not sure if anybody would really miss that baseball program anyway with it being across town from the school. The liability of letting players actually use the facilities could also be mitigated with closing the program. That liability seems to be a really big issue for 825. Anyway, it seems like a great opportunity is available.
    • Yeah, I read about their spring blue/gray scrimmage after I typed that.   Sounds like a real mess over there.  I just hate that for 'em.  Haw
    • Maybe OR will be, but Farragut, nah, I don’t think anybody realizes how much of a bad situation that program is in currently. I’m sure they will build out of it, but the next 3 to 4 years are going to be a long climb up.
