bradley99
I say they need to combined and Englewood and central team , and make them a tssaa middle school team. Same with athens just consolidate Riceville into them.

Anybody from there clue us " not in the area fans" in on what the problem(s) are in Englewood? Logcabinman you seem to be in the know about that program. I'm not exactly new to the 'T'. I've been on here for many many years but forgot my old account information. I would rather just start new anyways. What says you logcabinman? What seems to be the issue(s)? They were a relatively young team this year, with only about 11 Seniors I think, so they should be returning about 40-50 players.

I think a lot of coaches miss the boat when it comes to scheduling non-conference games when you have a very down team. When you know your team won't win any region it is imperative to schedule non-conference games that allow your team to win but fight for that win. Keep the taste of success in their mouth as you build the program back up. Yep. Been saying this in a couple other threads. You had several schools out there this year that have been struggling that had to schedule bigger schools. 1A Republic had to schedule teams like Oakland and Pearl Cohn to fill out their schedule and went 0-10. There are several teams that have struggled as of late that should have jumped on that opportunity. Red Boiling Springs is a good example of a program slowly getting better through scheduling. They were pretty much considered the worst program in the state throughout the 90s and 00s with stretches of winless seasons. But they started scheduling teams like Pickett County, Cannon County, Sale Creek, Clinton KY etc. And started winning 2 games, 3 games and a few times 4 or 5 games. Which is that amazing? No. But it also isn't a 61-game or 69-game losing streak like they have had within the last 20 years. 21 hours ago, Indian said: Can't play with less than 20 in 3A. Unfair and dangerous. I seen a 6A team this year where I counted 25 kids dressed out and about 30 or so total. Its getting tough in some areas to get kids to come out. Really have no answer to why kids won't play. Pineknot played with a group that stayed together when we started them in little league at the age of 4. There are athletes in the halls that just aren't interested in playing. Dalton plays because he loves the game and his teammates. I really think you will see more than 11 though. The area has 1500 high school students. It's not the area's fault that only 30 of them want to play football. Maybe its the coach. Maybe its the school's culture toward the sport. Administration. Who knows? But it's not the area. That's like saying you don't have enough lumber for a house in the middle of the woods. At McMinn Central, until they start playing football indoors on a hardwood court with a round ball and two ten foot goals then the administration won't care about it. That's been a problem for years. I see what you're saying, but some things have to be taken into account such as ratio of students, and socioeconomics. If the ratio is 4:1 or 3:1, girl to boy, and the 60% of those students are on free and reduced lunch, meaning they are either toeing the poverty line or below. Then fielding a 60-70 man roster is gonna be a tough task, and for a lot of schools they suffer from those very issues. Not saying Mcminn Central does, but I know for a fact some 6A's do.
