blount county recruiting office

For the sake of keeping the pot stirred:  What is so wrong on "recruiting" kids to your program?  I have no idea what the data shows, but my guess is that less than 25% of all kids from all sports from across the state take up the offer to go play at said school.  The factors involved are too numerous to mention, but the most likely would be convenience and finances (as in getting the athlete student to and from their potentially new school) and of course the willingness to leave their clan to join another.  Now, if a coaching staff or those therein, are willing to make accommodations for Johnny or Jenny to get to and from school, what's the harm in that?  Y'all got to remember, that NOT one of these kids is forced to go play at that school, but kids ARE forced to play at their present school, which may be a below average program, because of zoning rules.  Most public HS TN coaches don't break the rules when it comes to recruiting, but there are those that have no problem doing so.  It is what it is.  Let's even the playing field and may the best recruiter with deepest pockets or best selling pitch win.

I do wonder how many of the good athletes that transfer into Maryville and Alcoa have their tuition fees waived or paid for by wealthy boosters. Who knows? But, it is interesting to think about because that is a question nobody ever asks in these discussions.

I heard that Maryville had already filled up all of their tuition spaces for this year, but made an exception for a good football player who transferred in from WB. I heard that made a lot of people mad too. It was probably just a silly rumor though. :popcorneater:

Any parent in that general area would have to consider Maryville for their childrens education. If I'm wrong, correct me.They rank very high pretty much every year as one of the better schools in east Tennessee.Their sports program isn't to bad either. Now in NET,A parent  must think of sending their kids to Greeneville for the same reason.8-)

Nah, I have talked to his parents several times.  Now you're just being silly logging in back and forth between your two accounts.

I hope you're not referencing me. PP runs with Layne's crowd and I am no fan of his. Layne's lackluster defense lost Joel Helton his job and Scott Cummings had to pull his coaching career out of the grave at Knox West. I'm a big Harig and Brown fan when it comes to Knox West. Layne has been working on his license for 20 years he's the little engine that never could.

Are you saying the school district should have the say over a court custody ruling? Every other day and every other weekend is what the court ruled for the boy I was speaking of.

Coming from a blended family myself, if that is the court ruling I feel bad for the child. Only way custody in that fashion works without placing unwanted stress on a child is if parents live in the same city, in which case recruiting wouldn't be an issue. But, solid point about school districts not having say over court orders.

All the 10 11 and 12 grades were full. The athlete in question is a 9th grader. There were some spots left and no there is no waiver.

Maybe you should go get some butt hurt rx and sell some mirrors

What is "Bear kountry"?  You do know there are plenty of split families right? Only one parent has to have a Maryville City address. And there are so many other rules that allow kids to go to schools in different cities/counties. IDK if you live in Maryville City and get the same MCS handbook each year as I do, but all of the zoning guidelines/rules and exceptions are in there.

Momto81 this is  therapy for these morons. Its the same every year they displace their problems onto others instead of buying some mirrors from the guvna and fixing THEIR problems. Their AD is too busy making ringitis commericals for radio then getting to the root of the problem. The greeneyed monster runs wb program.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
