I'd like to see week zero, opening week, whatever it's called, kept free for all teams each year. Let the tssaa schedule each team, pair up non-region opponents within a reasonable distance, that were virtually even regardless of Division or Class. Teams play at home one year and away the next, matchups would be different each year.

If possible, start with 6A champ vs D2-AAA Champ and go from there, maybe with some expense paid for the road team. Beyond the state champ games, others would be at most 75-90 miles away.

Yes some teams would go down in strength from year to year but you could use the previous year's ending values as a starting point.

This would help teams that have trouble getting a 10 game schedule and no, wouldn't count in playoff qualifications.

with the promotion of one of the private schools biggest haters to T$$AA Cerebral Wizzard #2, dont expect nothin like that to happen

Booger just sayin

Looking at the ratings, Notre Dame and Cleveland would be a possible area matchup.

Someone mentioned not wanting to play tough games early but it's already like that for some teams. It would generate a lot of interest even for mid-level and building teams. The big thing would to keep it out of playoff qualifying. Almost like an exhibition though counting on the record.

Maryville did have a very tough non region schedule. Wasn't knocking it. The teams i mentioned are typically a step above above all of those however. BA mopped the floor with a very talented Knox Catholic team 56-14. A team that pushed you all to the limit. It's just another level when you look at the D2-AAA. That's why I would love to see the best Publics, Maryville, Oakland, Whitehaven, etc. Play the BA's Ensworth's, MBA's etc. It would be pretty cool and I imagine make quite a bit of money.

I think its pretty obvious who the best team in the state is this year though however, so it may not be as entertaining as it typically could be.

We're trying to schedule a game with Whitehaven in December!

As for Catholic, they practiced all summer for that Maryville game. as Cade Mays likes to say, "we broke their will". They weren't the same.

I'm not sure Whitehaven will be there to face your Rebs this year.

If that's all it takes to break a teams will or season then they have no heart and poor leadership. I would have to disagree with that statement. They did win 7 games this year. BA is just that much better than everyone else.

The over/under on personal fouls for KCHS is 3.5 per game.

Yea I noticed that when I saw them play. If they have that little heart and discipline they won't win 5A despite probably having the most talented team. I being a Webb guy am rooting against our former rivals but they do have a lot of talent. If they don't win state it will be because of their mentality/coaching not because of talent.

A Webb guy worried about Maryville playing the big boys ... lol , that's hilarious . Watching you always get behind the best DII Team of the year to thump your chest about Private superiority is always fun to watch . How about your team actually play with those big boys that you have the same enrollment with instead of dropping down to avoid them ? Ya that's what I thought , that doesn't let you be quite as Smug as you feel when you criticize Maryville does it .

If any of this was accurate I would respond. But it's not so I won't waste my time. Good luck tonight! Whoever wins I'm pulling for to go get a gold ball. #easttennessee

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
