Coach Ward's name has been in the rumor mill for a long time to go to Milan when Coach Morris hangs it up...whoever takes the job will be looking at at least 3 years of loaded talent...word is Nick Saban and Urban Meyer have inquired....not....seriously...what about South Gib's Stidham?... as a Milan fan....I'd take Alcoa's Coach Rankin.....again...not gonna happen...

Wow, Since Saban and Meyer have inquired Gruden  is also wanting to get back into coaching

Well here recently SGC has been losing kids to Milan....... I will NEVER (so dont even ask) open that can of worms but we have had a couple of (athletic) kids move in to the district just because of sports......

Several things are working against Milan right now and several things are working for them.... How things play out over the next several years is going to be really really interesting.

Milan is proud town and has every right to be. I really hope that Morris got leave on his terms.... I as a SGC guy is glad that he is gone but I recognize great when I see it.... Probably why I have been successful in my career choice. Morris made more with less year in and year out....

I hope the are calling the pressbox, the bleachers, the parking lot, or something in his honor....

I guess that's what I'm wondering. Have players moved to or went to Milan as freshmen without actually moving to Milan because of Coach Morris? Now that hes gone,is the Milan name enough to keep kids coming and not go to the newer school?South Gibson already seems to be doing well and growing.Could be like Dyer Co eventually with more students each year,

In regard to this, I think Milan will always be a solid prestigious program is West TN, very longstanding.  But I do think the landscape of West Tn football has changed a lot in the last 5 to 7 years.  It used to be Milan, Huntington and everybody else.  Recent resurgence in programs like Dresden, Union City, Trenton, Adamsville, Haywood, SGC, Crockett, etc has created a lot of parody and because of this the days of longstanding dominance for anyone is unlikely. A lot of these programs neighbor Milan too.  As long as interest holds out with these schools returning to past year in year out dominance may be less likely.  Like I said no disrespect to Milan, great program and they'll be good again no doubt

Haven't had a chance to comment on this but here's my thought. Coach Mirris you will be missed. You have made such a difference in the lives of young people in Milan. Thanks for all you've done.

I believe there will be an abundance of applicants for this job. An amazing amount of talent coming up and wonderful community support make this a very good situation. Also the coaching supplement is great. But I would like to see someone get this job that will make 2 things a priority (along with winning of course). I want someone who will open up the offense a little more. For years now I could watch a Milan game and tell you what play they were about to run. Very predictable. Also I would like to see someone get hired that will strive for some improvements to Johnnie Hale. Great field house. Great weight room and workout facility. But stadium is beyond old. Yes it is adequate but we aren't keeping up with the Jones'.

best of luck with that BPM.....knowin he will be missed....hard to replace that.....always been impressed with Morris....Booger thinkin thats not the season he probably wanted to leave on....has to b one of his worse seasons in his many many years there

Booger just sayin :thumb:

Since south gibson  has been open have lost a hand full of players to them. But we are talking less than one per year and that is a stretch. There is very little grey area between those two teams. You don't live and Milan and think about possibly playing football in Medina. And vice versa.

There me will be no shortage of applicants for this job. There was one coach between Tucker and Morris. That was Bland and in his one full season they went 10-4 and played in the semis. Milan will be just fine.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
