I agree he seems to be knowledgeable on this more than most. What's Riversides story anyone know? They good?

Tbh idk if riverside deserves to be n this poll yet. They have played hard but so far their opponents have played in their hand. After waverly we will see. This game all about match ups. Btw union city is top 3 team to add to the debate

I hold no favor for or against Union City. And I know alot of people gonna moan when I post this. But it's hard for me to put a team ranked when they have 3 losses and one win against a seemingly weak 1A team. End of season Union City could be top of the poll. Just imo right now they haven't earned it over a few of the 4-0 2a teams that aren't getting recognition. Just my opinion gentleman. They have the rest of the season to make their case.

Serious question because I really don't know anything about Polk County and noticed they jumped into the top 10 this week.

They are 3-1 and the 3 wins are over teams that have not won a game and they were defeated by #4 Tyner 35-7.

What I'm I missing?

Lol sounds like you aint missing nothing!

We understand what you’re saying. But the fact is that the AP poll guesses who is the best teams in the state. Not who has the best record. Unfortunately they haven’t been very good at it thus far. Yes UC has a bad record. They’ve played a huge powerhouse school from Kentucky. A big TN school. And the best team in 2A at the moment. 3 losses when that’s your schedule is nothing to be ashamed of. Playing great teams makes you better. Playing bad teams and never losing doesn’t help you. Two years ago, CA played a weak schedule and went 11-0 up until the quarterfinals (1 game got rained out). When we played South Pitt in the quarters, we got our tails slapped around. That’s what playing a weak schedule does to you when you play a great team later on. You may also recall that same year in 2016, Trezevant went 5-5 in the reg season after playing a rough schedule. Guess what happened? They got a gold ball still.

We think alike. I understand yeti's thought process, just don't agree that the purpose of a poll is current achievement, but overall capability. Union City seems to be the school of debate because they have a "bad" record at the moment, but honestly almost everyone would agree that they probably would beat most teams in the poll on the field...that's what my view of poll placement is.

LMBO!!! I hear ya Uknoit! I know our teams will not take each other lightly. Ours shall be a good game. I would love to see one of us take on some west teams this year in playoffs. If not, I know Meigs will get em. They have the size, speed and athleticism.  Oneida will be tough too.

We have a ways to go here and there's always years between good teams in these parts....But we're gearing back up and may soon field a team as good as the 2014/2015 teams of late.

This unit has the ability, we'll have to see how they mature in the next couple weeks.

I always look forward to our game. It's one of the most physical games of the season.

I'm just glad we can have a conversation without someone being butthurt and i do think a healthy Union City is probably top 5 team. but current status not that it means anything is less than stellar. Do the injured players have year ending injuries? Or just few games to heal up be back when it matters type of injuries.

    • Sorry Barn. I wasn’t specific enough. It seems I’m always protecting the principal at 825. My interactions with her have been extremely positive, but very limited. With all the other stories being told, I’m confident there are other sides I am not aware of. Regardless, there are lots of decent people earning good checks up there. Maybe too good, which explains why no one is willing to speak up. My beef is with the poor communication among the athletic programs and with the administration. Seven years ago the poor communication led to my son missing graduation due to a sporting event that was planned months before. I chalked it up to the system being totally shocked that the baseball team made it out of their district, and our then AD was a football coach. Maybe they were surprised and did not plan appropriately. That was more palatable than they just didn’t give a crap. Déjà vu, seven years later, same thing. Different administration, but same result.  Maybe in seven more years, it will actually be “about the kids”. They should do better.
    • That's a fair line. But if it's not over, that's a big problem.
    • RR, you think that changes this year, or at least improves? I know they had a couple of talented young receivers last year that made some plays later in the year. Defensive back was a struggle against any team that was above average at throwing the ball.
    • You would think they got a bunch of interest
    • You would think with football just three months away more would be talking. There's only so much a person can say about someone allowing the field to get painted without asking their boss who would have said ((((((((  ALE NO ))))))))) or all the other BULLS#!T they've done as they lead Maryville High into the new age of WOKE in a conversative town. I'm ready for some football news without hearing something coming out of 825 that Power Munger has done to cap off the week.
