Super 32 on the way back?

No reason for all of this crazy east Tennessee/Nashville or Out of State games.  Lets' put Southeast TN in an 6-8 team region (kinda like Cleveland, Cumberland, McMinn, Ooltewah, Rhea, Soddy Daisy, Stone Memorial, Walker Valley).  -I know, I must be dreaming of something that makes sense. You could take some of these and put them in a Chattanooga region.  Do a Knoxville region.

Did your "in the know" person say who was pushing this?

To few teams in regions. It is hard to find games. Travel is killing many schools.Enrollment will be closer together. There  still will be six classes, but in the Super 32 not all teams will make the playoffs. It may fix some of the problems, but not all. I still wish there were four classes in the major sports.I introduced a four class plan in 1996. Two Hundred schools signed off on it. T.S.S.A.A killed it.

I disagree.

Currently 6A Football has 49 teams. 26 of the 6A teams are in Middle Tennessee.
East Tennessee has 14 6A teams, spread out from Northeast Tennessee down
into Hamilton County. The nine remaining are all in Shelby County.
The 6A Class is divided up into eight regions from east to west.
Regions 1, 2, and 3 all have seven teams and Region 4 has six teams.
This puts 27 teams on the east side of the bracket. Region 5 has seven teams.
Region 6 has six teams. Region 7 has five teams, and Region 8 has 4 teams.

I think 6A should be pushed up to about 60-64 teams. I'd look for a natural cutoff in the numbers to achieve this. Ideally 5 classes would be better.

If you push some 20 5A teams into 6A, you will start getting schools with enrollment #s around 1300.  you may have teams with 1300-1400 students in regions with schools of over 2000.  Most of those smaller schools will be rural schools without the resources that the metropolitan or Urban schools have with higher enrollment numbers.  Not sure that is a good thing.

The Rebels must be dang good at it too!  They been accused of recruiting for 50+ years and they've never been caught.  Like I said, they must be dang good at it!

Of the schools over 2,000 Oakland and Blackman are the most consistent in football. Some of the others in the 2,000 club aren't that good. It seems like one school is pushing this and nobody wants to say who it is. Dickson County is the current cutoff with Gallatin being first out.

It happens in 1A all the time. Schools with less than 200 students competing against schools with almost 400. Why is ok for 1A but not 6A?? At least those schools would have a whole lot more depth or potential depth. Some 1A schools playing football can barely field a roster and they are forced to play school with twice the enrollment.

I bet one or two people are pushing for this. Probably one of the schools on my map that is out on a 6A island and isn't very good in football.

Probably so. The competition thing with numbers at the 6A level just gets me. Are these same schools complaining during basketball or baseball season when teams with much more skewed enrollments are forced to play because there are only 3 classes?  I can think of Liberty in Jackson has maybe 1100 kids at the most probably less. Well they have to get thru teams out of Memphis with over 2000 enrollment to win a state title in basketball. Is that fair. Of course not. But people don’t complain about cases like that. Only in football.
