Different etiquette for different sports.  Would you be happy if your daughter was a golfer and some clown yelled during her back swing?  Also, large numbers of free throws occur in basketball/with PK's the game is on the line for each one taken.  I would be highly upset if my fans did this to an opponent and yes I would say it shows a definite lack of class/poor sportsmanship.

That literally never happens in golf though. I wouldnt do it but it just doesnt seem outrageous to me considering its done in other sports with regularity.

Speaking of "Class"... Beech just reported a 1385 for the mid-cycle enrollment... won't be in AA next year.

It is my understanding that class realignments don't occur for another 2 years. Mid cycle classification changes only occur if the schools enrollment changes + or - 20%. At least that is what I was told. Was their change that big?

Looks like the went from 1139 to 1385 from the 2016 enrollment to now... that a 21% change.

A parent's job is to CHEER for their daughter.  Period.

Not yell at a ref.

Not berate a teen age young lady.

Not argue with fans.

BLESS YOUR DAUGHTER WITH WORDS OF AFFIRMATION.

Sounds cheesy.... but it works.  Trust me.

Did you forget—

Don’t be a mommy/daddy coach from the sideline.

Given the option of building up their goalkeeper or attempting to tear down an opponent, they chose the latter. Enough said.

We were in two PK shootout this week. Our girls are like the walking dead! As coaches and players, we were to into the situation to notice anything regarding the fans. Madison Magnet and Signal Mountain are classy programs with good fans. Everyone on the sidelines got along with no issues. During the PK Shootout with Madison Magnet, our keepers mom and their keepers mom held hands supporting each other.

As it should be.  It is settled on the pitch by the players.  Only support should be positive support to your team.  Anything negative makes your fan base look like a Honey Boo-Boo fan!  AKA the Polk County mom who flipped double birds at Signal Mountain fans after our regular season game, some SM mom's with much younger siblings in tow!  Now stuff of bad sportsmanship legend up here!

That is correct.  If enrollment changes +/-20% AND the new number puts a school in a higher or lower classification, then you move up or down.

    • The Girls Basketball team I am a part of played for a gold ball this season. One of the biggest differences in the sports is that there is no field prep/maintenance in basketball.   Our baseball is successful and play 30 games in the regular season as well. All of the teams dedicate A LOT of time in preparing for their next opponent.
    • “facts” or better yet ‘opinions’ had been up for weeks/months. that’s not why the thread was deleted. get over yourself.
    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say they have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
    • Crazy how the thread just gets deleted when facts come out.
    • I understand I guess it depends on the school you are with and the time you want to put in.  It’s evident of the schools that don’t put in as much times.  I would say basketball players put in as much time as any sport in our school system and this is coming from a football town.  Bball is a longer season than other sports.
