William Blount 2019

After reviewing the WB schedule I am sold 100% they could go 8-2 if they really wanted to bad enough. The district is going to be really weak this year other than Maryville. I'm not sure why they went out and got Elizabethton on the schedule because that will be another team I can't see getting a win against. The rest of the schedule is very winnable.

It's very interesting how a player up the road at William Blount we've not really heard about goes down the road to Greenback and makes a name for himself. Going from 6A to 1 A is understandable but it's the fact that Greenback can beat William Blount is what boggles my mind.

Not only beat, but gut stomp. I know jamborees aren't real games. Greenback took a knee last year inside the 5 a few plays at the end of the jamboree last year so we didn't score 28 points in 1 qtr. against the Govs. LOL

In case you havent noticed, Greenback is usually the second matchup for the other teams in the jamboree. And you guys usually get the other team's backups. WB is no exception to that. Congratulations on being a state championship team that can sometimes beat a 2-8 or 3-7 6A team in the jamboree. WB has beaten Maryville twice in the jamboree in recent years. Does that mean the Govs are better than Maryville?

I know that the one and only time that the Govs agreed to a scrimmage was in 1991. The Govs best team ever. They traveled down Morganton just to drive back to Blount County after getting gut drug. My favorite part of it was Coach Satterfield called the Daily Times to have them come down and cover it. Total shock for the boys in baby blue is all I remember. Timmy Rayhuff was the only one ready to play. We played with him at Southside and he told me 20 years later that he tried to warn his team on the bus ride down but obviously they didn't listen. BAHAHAHA

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
