I do not see anyway that Oakland can beat Maryville.  As much as I would like for Rutherford County to be represented in the title game, Maryville will win this by 2 touchdowns.   Oakland is one dimensional on offense, but very stout on defense.  Can’t see how they will be able to run the ball consistently against Maryville.  Either way kudos to the Patriots for making to the semis for the last four years.

This post didnt age very well

Maryville will compete for championships under Derek Hunt. Oakland drilled Maryville in the Semifinals 2 years ago. A month after that George Quarles resigns and goes to Furman to coach.  Maryville won the championship in Dereks 1st year. Everyone thought Maryville was dead and gone after George left.  What people fail to realize is George had a lot of help.

Another thing is 10 years ago staff was George Quarles,David Ellis,Jim Gaylor,Joe Pinkerton,Wayne Thompson, Mike White,Joe Robinette and Larry Walker.  That was a great staff.  Right now only 2 members off that staff is still coaching. Joe Robinette and Mike White. A lot of those guys either retired or took administration duties. Maryville replaced those coaches with darn good coaches. Coaching staff is still great. Maryville administration will do what it takes to have great coaches.

And the Maryville administration will do what it takes to have the best player$........that Alcoa doesn't get.

and then takes a jab a Maryville.  Seems like someone else from Franklin liked to jab at Maryville a few years back. I think it was Todd.

You all have to admit that wasn't a normal Maryville team size or talent wise. They been kinda holding it together all year and without their stud running back they were mediocre at best.

I disagree with the mediocre statement. We actually beat Oakland once this year. We've really struggled in replacing our D-1 QB from last year. I knew it would be a big hole to fill.  I don't have a problem with DQ. KWC is my favorite.

Mediocre according to Maryville standers. Not in the sense of not good.

Now that you proved your a stalker who lives on CoachT (11,000+ posts, geez), whats the point you're trying to make about volleyball?  You have an issue with female sports?  I don't see the correlation.  Please explain

    • The Girls Basketball team I am a part of played for a gold ball this season. One of the biggest differences in the sports is that there is no field prep/maintenance in basketball.   Our baseball is successful and play 30 games in the regular season as well. All of the teams dedicate A LOT of time in preparing for their next opponent.
    • “facts” or better yet ‘opinions’ had been up for weeks/months. that’s not why the thread was deleted. get over yourself.
    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say they have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
    • Crazy how the thread just gets deleted when facts come out.
    • I understand I guess it depends on the school you are with and the time you want to put in.  It’s evident of the schools that don’t put in as much times.  I would say basketball players put in as much time as any sport in our school system and this is coming from a football town.  Bball is a longer season than other sports.
