And what does facial hair have to do with football?????

I guess the point is it’s 2018 and the kids want to be like their peers (haircuts and what’s allowed/not allowed).  Not allowing coaches to have facial hair is nothing more than a power trip. Maybe it’s not a big deal on the surface, but what’s the underlying reason. Seems to me it’s about control and if they make a big deal of that, what else is the work environment like?

Just thinking out loud

I think you are not hearing everything.  Who said they were keeping the entire staff?  Give me a name.

Reading between the lines in what Dr. Becker said... name an interim from within... having full faith in the current staff... no rush or timeline. Williams is staying in as a teacher (don’t get me wrong, I think he either has another job or will be looking).

Just don’t feel good. In regards to the hair policy, I know firsthand there are kids that aren’t coming out because of that. I know there are people who will say you don’t need them, but who knows what’s walking the halls and are turned off by that?

For an aspiring coach, none of this may matter. For an established coach at an established program, it may.

Listen Gallatin administration. I do not care if the man looks like Willie Nelson, A purple haired fairy wizard, or Mr Clean. You find a proven football coach and put him in green. Anything else, and YOU as an administration will be the one judged by this entire county, not the guy with or without hair follicles. Get it right this time.

I believe there will be a ton of good candidates and I also believe there will be several with opinions on who to hire.  I also believe that you can not afford to make a bad hire at this juncture.  A proven winner that knows how to build a system.

I really hope they do, but I’m not so sure they will.

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
    • No movement on Chester? South Gibson? Gibson County?
    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
