Number of Students-I think putting schools with 180-220 students up against 400 students is a little to wide of a gap.But i do like 5 classes.

Going to 5 classes will only add about 10 schools to each classification.  Roughly 58 - 60 per class.  

I don't think we will have a hard line (set) enrollment number the way DII is currently set up.  But who knows?

Hardline enrollment is the only way it will truly work. A school the size of Gleason roughly 120 students cannot compete year and year out with a Union City with enrollment between 450 and 500.

350 is a perfect cutoff between 1 and 2 A. Why the TSSAA thinks they must even classes out is a joke. Back in the old 3 classification they used hardline enrollment and that worked fine.

Thinking out loud:  If there was a hard line enrollment number, would anyone manipulate or hold numbers down for a certain classification?

When Union City is on most schools in 1A or 2A cannot compete.    You're using the low end and the high end of the stick to make comparisons.  There will always be an advantage in that scenario.  

I understand what you're saying but one has to be realistic as well.

The 500 hardline enrollment OnB has stated would only have roughly 35 or so schools in the class.    Not picking on OnB or the number but just putting a reasonable opinion out to why it may not or could not happen or work.

I do believe we are heading to something different though next classification.  I would think there will be some options on the table by the end of this football season and especially by this time next year.

Back to the Friday Main Event Top 10.  

Which 1 team would you take out AND what team would you add?

Right now I would take out Freedom Prep and add Gordonsville.   No particular reason.  I'd have to give it a bit more thought. On Gordy that is.

Freedom Prep lost the qb and big linemen to Memphis Central but they both were ruled ineligible. Freedom Prep has alot of talent but to undisciplined to make a serious run. I just used 350 because it seems like a logical number. IMO 400 is on the high side but leave it up to the TSSAA and they will find away to mess it up.

I understand.  Wasn't trying to single anyone out.  

Surely those players will find a way to get a hardship approved.  I believe the lineman is a Senior?
