2A REGION 5

Moore looks tough all of a sudden.

Region 5 as a whole has taken on a new role... region 6 has been the dominant region since realignment, but that's changed. Region five has won some games, but as a whole, top to bottom (4, for playoff purposes), six has usually advanced to play the region 7/8 survivors. I think that R 6 is down this year but that's not all of the equation, R 5 has strengthened significantly. With the decline of region 7( other than Peabody), I fully believe that whomever takes over as #1 from region 5 has a good shot at the semi's this season. Still early I know, but I don't see anyone standing in the way that they shouldn't have a great chance to beat.

I agree, it will be interesting to see how RS/Wav/HC plays out since LC plays 2 of the 3 and will have a good gage

From the start that everyone's off to, Lewis Co/Forrest would be favored over anyone from R6, unless someone really pulls it together in the next few weeks. I just mentioned those two, because I'm not too familiar with the other R5 teams, and although Hickman County's posters say that they're going to take the region (no offense intended), I've heard that before and will reserve judgement on them.

Seems like the theme in both regions 5 & 6 is inexperience. I think most will continue to get better. LC is no different with a lot of inexperienced players starting. I was a bit surprised in the first game with how crisp the offense was. There will most likely be some upsets and some teams fade as the year goes on.

Maybe Riverside isn't very good

Pretty good point so far. Injuries, penalties, turnovers, and just poor judgment plaguing panthers so far. Got a lot to clean up.lexington didn't even gain 200 yards of total offense and still put up 26 points. Tells u a little how bad rhs played last Friday.  As of right now region 5 definitely heads up better than their brethren from region 6.

Everyone deals with Inexperience every season to some degree... when you change coaches it compounds things by everyone learning new schemes, and just becoming comfortable in the system. Waverly has a good coach, as we do, but it's going to take time to settle in and get to the point where we can play every play without thinking first. Wavo will get there before us... we're on our fourth in four years.

    • 20 but had 5-6 not dressed every game. It went down towards the end due to injuries and obviously only 15 got to dress for the state tournament. Then, they only lost 2 from this year and gain 8 from the middle school for next year
    • As somebody mentioned before, this is going to result in a massive lawsuit, can you imagine professional "educators" actually having the conversation about getting "the bad kids" out of the high school?  And the head coach asking directly to change grades, gets turned down, comes back again and gets it approved?  This is unbelievable.  In addition to the lawsuit, the state Department of Education is going to come down extremely hard on this.  WYSH is on the war path.  There could be dozens more lose their jobs by the time this is over.  And yeah the real shame is the kids being affected that literally had nothing to do with this and actually worked hard to earn their grades.
    • I've heard Powell from someone who talked to him. I saw the kid two days ago and I should of pulled over and talked with him and wished him well where ever he goes. It will be a ale of a loss for us because I don't believe we have anyone in the stable good as him from what I seen in the spring.
    • I would have to think that the firing of the 2 teachers is just the beginning of future moves.  If not, it is woefully short.  If the AC school board thinks that the damage is just limited to Clinton, they are sadly mistaken.  Any outsider would view the whole school system as suspect, and rightly so.
    • Yeah. AC brass walked in to the building at Clinton and suggested that the principal start changing grades.  Honesty, the notion that anybody at AC was involved is just idiocy.  The ones who are hurt most are the kids who weren't involved in the cheating, but still are being penalized by college admission decisions and scholarship consideration simply because they went to a school that was involved in such a scandal.
