General and Salem have been waiting for this. The kids and the coaches clicking. The talent has been there but maybe it was maturity thing with the kids. Maybe it was a maturity thing for the coaches. Whatever it is they look pretty dang tough and they hit hard. @GeneralAmerigha @Salem How much depth do y’all have?

We have less than 35 kids dressed out this year. Depth is an issue, talent is not. This is a senior dominated team. This class has been special since junior pro days. Three started as freshmen on the 2016 team that beat Tyner, Meigs, and made it to the quarters. Five freshmen contributed all season and several played significant minutes that year. We are getting big contributions at LB and QB from two juniors.

This program went  22-4 in 2015 and 2016 (2 losses to Marion Co). We had, IMO, the most talented Forrest team in decades in 2017 that was also the most snakebit team in school history. Last season our head coach resigned in May. Our experienced defensive coordinator became a rookie head coach/rookie offensive coordinator with only weeks before fall practice started. A fresh out of college position coach became a rookie defensive coordinator. There were growing pains and bad decisions. But good decisions come from experience and experience comes from bad decisions. So far improvements are evident and we just hope they keep it rolling and we can get some kid back in the program for 2020 and beyond.

Good post Salem. UC won state in 2017 with 28 kids if I’m remembering correctly. @PeabodyPride Is that correct?
