South Pittsburg vs Red Bank (Grider against this Brown man)

Leonard called last night just for you @pegleg

Captain Victory sails his schooner towards the banks of Mountain Creek on the hunt for some Sapphire Cats.  But his band of merry men had better batten down the hatches because these felines can pounce from the air.  Quarterback Madox Wilkey can throw the darts and Lucas Brown is the bullseye as they have been lighting up scoreboards all over the Scenic City.  They've toppled Trojans, caged 2 birds, and survived storms and lightning bolts but will they be ready for the bombardment that begins tonight?

The band of brigands from the skillet city haven't been tested since opening week.  But in the process of swatting insects and wrecking wigwams, they have become the Volunteer State's second highest scoring team with a defense that is equally intense.  The flintlocks are loaded for bear ... but unfortunately Lions are on the agenda tonight.  Will they have enough firepower?

Leonards loser, in a close one ...

Red Bank.

Get me outta here Percy!

Dearest Mother-

I write this letter to inform you I have received your care package of provisions. I swam from New Hope to Battery Point Hill to retrieve the shipment.  I must say these provisions arrived at the utmost opportune time.  For we were running low on your famous possum cakes and squirrel butter.  The young men and myself included were utterly thrilled to receive a batch of your bluejay muffins.  Also, the bandages were especially welcomed as we have had several fallen in battle.  You and Poppa will be pleased to hear of Captain Victory and his Band of Pirates dispatchment of those Hornet men from the J. Majors territory.  But we quickly turned our focus to our next campaign.  Your youngest son, who is of sound mind and strong body, has swam from Battery Point Hill up the length of the river to Mountain Creek.  I am now standing on Troll mountain overlooking the Red Bank camp as I write.  Below I see large carnivores of what I can only describe as a breed of half men half lion species.  This will undoubtedly be the most arduous conflict to date.  They are led by the head Carnivore himself better known as Bad Bad Lion Brown.  But don't you fret Sweet Mother of mine for we have leading us the greatest Captain on planet Earth.  Captain Victory has sailed these waters before and has his Band of Pirates ready no matter who or what we are facing.   Our sidearm is ready and true.  Our ground assault must strike strongly, quickly and boldly. The air assault must be delivered with precise precision. The defense must hold their ground against anything coming their way. Our Special units must pin and cage these Lions deep.    We have our orders.  The command has been given.  We must invade this hostile force and try to skin these carnivorous beings.       Love to All-

As I said early in this thread, #15 Strickland is likely one of the best running backs the Pirate Defense will see all season.  He is big, quick and has some moves after contact.  The QB is good and has to be pressured before he can hit those receivers that are effective across the middle.  The other running back is fumble prone but seems dangerous speed wise.  This game is going to be about blocking and tackling at speed.

Thank you.  You may be a little young to remember Leonard Postero, but for those that do, he was a must listen on college game days in the south.

I remember Leonard well. You sounded a lot like him. Hopefully it’s a good game tonight and we come our injury free. It will be a tough one to win for sure.

    • Why? Low pay. Low budget thanks to the Rotary milking the programs revenue. Foul smell. There are other negative things... Positives: the players and being toward the top of the classification numbers wise.
    • What we have here is an influx of outsiders raining down on the town of Maryville like a swarm of locust trying to change our culture into the same crap they moved away from. I have no issues with anyone coming here but don't bring your politics with you. Most people around here never pay attention to the elections and keep letting the same ole rats and vermin right back in the back door and wonder why things are like they are. The problem at Maryville High is mainly due to letting outsiders get a foothold on control and shove their agenda down everyone's throat. Anyone that leaves there or let's say ranoff are replaced with an outsider with the same mindset. Eventually Maryville High will never be the same as it once was which I'm beginning to believe already but it's only chance of survival are to recruit people that will get in there and reverse the damage that has already happened.
