I have to brag on my son.  Yesterday we were on the way home and I said "Let's drive by RBHS and see if they are practicing."  As we pass the field, he rolls down the window and yells "Go Pirates!"  A few players turned to look as he rolled up his window giggling.

Gotta raise 'em right.

His momma might get mad, after all she's a Red Bank grad. But all week she's been referring to South Pittsburg as "we" and "us" so she's bought all in as well.

I find that hard to believe since you can’t really see the field from the road the home concrete stands are blocking that . But I wish both teams luck.

I find it easy to believe when they are in the endzone closest to Mountain Creek road.  Once you pass the bleachers and bank then you can easily see that end of the field.  I used to live in the apartments across the street, we'd walk across the road and watch some of the games from that area.

We agree on one thing though, I wish both teams luck.

I think I just got a little clarification. There was a school in the area that is now Red Bank. We may have played them in '34, but it is not actually the same Red Bank that is this school.

Not only are you a great composer of story writing but a history major as well.  I will have to kick my game up a notch.

Dearest Mother-

I write this letter to inform you I have received your care package of provisions. I swam from New Hope to Battery Point Hill to retrieve the shipment.  I must say these provisions arrived at the utmost opportune time.  For we were running low on your famous possum cakes and squirrel butter.  The young men and myself included were utterly thrilled to receive a batch of your bluejay muffins.  Also, the bandages were especially welcomed as we have had several fallen in battle.  You and Poppa will be pleased to hear of Captain Victory and his Band of Pirates dispatchment of those Hornet men from the J. Majors territory.  But we quickly turned our focus to our next campaign.  Your youngest son, who is of sound mind and strong body, has swam from Battery Point Hill up the length of the river to Mountain Creek.  I am now standing on Troll mountain overlooking the Red Bank camp as I write.  Below I see large carnivores of what I can only describe as a breed of half men half lion species.  This will undoubtedly be the most arduous conflict to date.  They are led by the head Carnivore himself better known as Bad Bad Lion Brown.  But don't you fret Sweet Mother of mine for we have leading us the greatest Captain on planet Earth.  Captain Victory has sailed these waters before and has his Band of Pirates ready no matter who or what we are facing.   Our sidearm is ready and true.  Our ground assault must strike strongly, quickly and boldly. The air assault must be delivered with precise precision. The defense must hold their ground against anything coming their way. Our Special units must pin and cage these Lions deep.    We have our orders.  The command has been given.  We must invade this hostile force and try to skin these carnivorous beings.       Love to All-

I was woderin’ who that redneck wuz, standin’ in my front yard survey the battlefield. :roflolk:

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
