No losers tonight, both teams gave us one of the best high school games that have ever been on Thursday Night TV. Sure there were mistakes made but these are two teams that have had their share of struggles this year.

Easy for you to say. WB got embarrassed on tv. How on Earth do you lose that game? Fall forward a yard and the game is over. Coaching malpractice!

One of the problems with WB is confidence. Our guys dont believe in themselves. Well, tonight we got irrefutable evidence that the lack of belief comes from the coaching staff. As a coach, you have to have confidence in your team to pick up a yard. If you dont think you can do that then you need to stay at home.

You could give William Blount the same players as Alcoa or Maryville and they might I meant might win 2 games

No they didn't. I bet no one that watched the game has ever seen a 51 yard field goal made in high school. I'll tell you something else also and it's called what goes around comes back around. There was a touchdown that WB scored with twelve players on the field and got away with it and also an obvious pass interference against a Sevier receiver in the end zone when he got hurt. My gut said something will come back around to even those mistakes up which it did in the end.  Like I said earlier it was a great game.

Barney,

Things like that happen in every ballgame. The difference is most teams win games when they get those lucky breaks. Not WB. We find new ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. 4th and 1 with a 9-point lead and good field position and you take a delay of game penalty and punt it away instead of falling forward a yard and icing the dam game. That is stupid. That's all there is to it. It doesn't matter that it was a good game. It doesn't matter that people like Mark Packer were impressed by our kicker. That's all meaningless. What matters is we are 2-4 when we should be 3-3 right now. The kids were devastated after that loss tonight.

It's really easy for a Maryville fan to have a positive worldview. Everything has gone your way the past two decades. Meanwhile, I've been invested in a losing program for over 10 years now. So I apologize if I'm not thrilled with the moral victories.

91 i have had my say a few times at WBs expense but after reading the paper this morning i feel sorry for the kids and fans.I go to bed early so i cant see the games BUT i 100% figured to see a win last night. You all need a change and its more than evident now.Good luck to you and your boys.More than enough time to at least show progress!

4th and two in the first half. Throw it in the end zone into double coverage. Incomplete. FG there wins game.

Yep. And there are lots of plays in a game that can determine the outcome-not just one. But I have to say that fake xtra point at the start of overtime was a biggie when you have the best kicker in the area. #riverboatgambler #takethemoralvictory

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
