Going to have to look at people that have done it before.

Agreed 100%.  Find a coach down in the lower classifications that has had great success that is willing to step up to 6A ball.  This is exactly what Oakland did when they got Creasy from Trousdale County where I believe he had two state championships under his belt.

They might want to start by looking in Tennessee instead of Kentucky. They need someone familiar with the culture of Rutherford County. Lots of things to overcome to fix this one. It could take a little time. Starts with admin... nothing else matters if they don't commit.

Creasy's predecessor also came from the lower levels. Creasy is no doubt a great coach , but McDaniel laid the groundwork for Oakland to have staying power as an elite program for a long time. Creasy has improved upon it

Copley had coached on some really good Centennial teams, so he wasn't a newcomer to the area. Everything I've seen and heard about the administration leads me to believe that they  are committed to fielding a winning program

I did not realize he spent time in Middle Tennessee before he came over.... Why are they down to 30 kids?

Siegel was already pretty bad before Copley took over. He ran a pretty tight ship from what I hear so  sure that thinned their numbers as well. Their mbers were pretty low all 3 years from what I remember

They are going to have to upgrade facilities as well. Not saying they are bad but with Blackman getting new field, riverdale new field house and weight room, Oakland has an indoor facility. Rock vale everything new. What does Siegel have. End of the day you have to draw kids to your school. N not having a winning record since 2013 is not going do it.

I've said it over and over; besides leadership, Siegel's biggest problem is the big red monster 3 miles away. When a nearby school has a indoor facility, nice weight room, jumbtron & field turf to go along with tradition, you have to get the right guy, change the culture and get everyone to buy into a grassroots effort. How many elite players at Siegel have moved across Memorial just to go to Oakland?

    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
