Archiewho Posted November 11, 2019 Report Share Posted November 11, 2019 It sounds like Fairley is a really strong football team, maybe the best coming out of Memphis in 2A in awhile. Looks like they had a lot of all-region sections. But just to put it in perspective, the three other playoff teams they competed with this year, all lost last Friday to the rural West tn region. Yes the other 2A teams out of Region 8 lost. Folks were hoping Mitchell would of had a better showing. However, Fairley can compete with the best and I think they win this one. According to the ShelbyMetroSportsblog 'Individual Stats' (link) page through games played through October 24, 2019, he only had 86 carries with a 9 ypc average, which isn't a lot of carries compared to his contemporaries. That's one of two things, either he was hurt and they reduced his carries, or, they are utilizing more weapons while using him as a decoy as teams load the box. I kinda think it is the latter. Also found a interesting stat that are earily similar for the Bulldogs and Tidemen , both teams average starting offensive filed postion is on the opposing teams side of the field. What does that mean?? SCARY GOOD DEFENSES !!!!! Dont believe for a second the Golden Naders will lay down I think this ball game is gonna be must see TV so to speak this Friday !!! The 8-2A All-Region team I posted is an indicator because a WR, TE, & an ATH were other skilled position players from Fairley who were also selected on the offensive teams.
