He had multiple chances to come to FC and backed out....

As an assistant. Judging by what I've read from previous leadership, that was a wise decision. Was planning on moving to FC before being offered OC position at Rockvale, you don't turn down a promotion like that

What's the credentials for Cunningham then? Sell me?

All i see is someone who agreed to come, then backed out.

Went 0-10 as a OC, in which his offense scored 2 TDs in only 50% of the games they played in.

Asst at Blackman for a few years?

I don't know the guy, may be a fantastic person. However, that's not the resume of a 5A head coach.

Brian Coleman didn't have the "resume" of a 5A head coach yet no one would dispute it now. Before the injuries started to pile up, Rockvale put up 20, 47 and 35 with what basically amounted to a JV roster. Hes carved out a good career for himself up to this point in RuCo, yet wants to go back to a place that has been a coaching graveyard, so whatever misgivings you have about him previously backing out should be put to rest.

If you want credentials, talk to any assistant or head coach he's served with and they'll have nothing but good things about him as a coach and a man. He's got local ties without all the baggage. He's been on some great teams and will know what it takes to get there

He's young, which will help him relate to the players and get some of the talent that is roaming the halls. Once he gets that talent, he has shown what he can do with it. Franklin County went toe to toe with a great freshman team in Oakland so they no doubt have talent

Hire the man and give him the tools he needs to be successful, then get out of his way. If FC does, they'll see a program moving in the right direction with a coach who wants to be there long term

Sometimes to change the culture  at some of these schools they have to stop bringing back in the home town hero. I think there may be a name in the mix that may shake up not only the region but area as well.  Someone that has had a lot of success aver the past several years.

I’ve heard this as well. It’s a name that’s not already been mentioned yet, and will surprise some people. It will definitely shake things up if he’s a serious candidate.

I had been out of town for awhile, so I needed to make some calls again and be sure about my name. I don’t know for sure that he’s a really serious candidate so I don’t want to put his name out there yet, but let’s just say he’s had success where he’s currently the head coach, it’s in a near by school that plays franklin county a lot, and would make a lot people perk up if he was officially announced.

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
