After a little more film time today I will say I am extremely impressed by how athletic the Pirates are all over the field. The 4/5 backs are all very solid and each bring something a little different.

They make most of the difference later in the game. Alot of fresh runners take the field later on with tired lineman and LB.

SP kept that big Meigs QB to 16, He got 27 on GB. SP scored 27, GB 20.Not sure the turnovers. On paper that was played on field SP better team. But that GB passing game can break your heart fast and with Roy doing what he did hey who knows.

2nd game of the season for us. I'm sure if SP played Sequatchie again, it wouldn't be as close.

QB was sick all week, starting lineman out, receiver got hurt early in the game. I think these two teams are pretty even. Jmo

Let's talk matchups...

SP DL vs GB OL

SP run game vs GB front 7-8

GB pass game vs SP Secondary

Thoughts???

SP secondary honestly scares me. Then again we haven't really played a solid passing team so the secondary might play lights out. It's something that has always been our weak link in my eyes. The athletes are there no doubt but I feel like the secondary primarily the corners haven't been coached up...? I will probably get blessed out by other SP posters but everyone has their own opinion. Pass interference calls can be very iffy if you will. Do the refs let the boys play or do they throw flags for everything. I do know the secondary have great verticals which is a plus. I could go on and on and on but this is just my opinion.

You know when SP played Meigs the receivers were open Meigs was just to scared to catch them. Swafford threw a couple of dimes that game that could have been game changing.

    • Dyersburg is going to be good, really good. As mentioned, they have a lot of talent on the way and the trio of Chelby, Joya, and KayKay will only be better with a full season together under their belt. To me, playing in Murfreesboro two consecutive postseasons will only serve to make them more dangerous if/when they stand among the final eight teams this March. Experience, good or bad, always makes you better. And not only do they have experience, they know how to win there. Schedules are coming together for all of the teams and I am excited about what I am seeing on the preliminary drafts on Dyersburg’s schedule. I know I am being a tease, but it’s simply not my place to announce what another school is doing. With that said, I won’t go into specifics. However, I am excited about renewed home and away contracts for the non-district portion of the calendar. I think west Tennessee will have a lot of interest as well.
    • What does everyone have in the final 8? In no particular order. 1. Eagleville 2. Gordonsville 3. Greenback 4. Oakdale 5. South Pitt/ East Robertson-- not sure 6. Richland 7. Halls 8. Union City
    • They struggled to field a team last year. I don’t see them being much better?
    • sx good two know thay didun't waint that entarr citty two see yeller/red......
    • Couldn’t agree more.. Tate is a special kinda player , but fortunately for us we get a best of 3 series. I think our pitching is better than last year when we made the trip to west tn. Should be a fun 2 or 3 games.
