gogold
This is painful to start since no closure for this season, but got to throw some teams out there, so I'll say Gibson County, Summertown, Loretto, Clarkrange will be some of the favorites of this up and coming season. I sure hope we get to play it and finish it out this time.

I sure hope we get to play it and finish it out this time. That is a good list. Gibson County will get one of the most anticipated 8th graders maybe since Heather Butler coming up in Micah Hart and she can go. She don’t turn the ball over and can do it all. She was the MVP of the Blue Suede Championship game with 35 points, 10 rebounds and 7 blocked shots and was the MVP of the All Star Game with 20 points. Throw in Evyn Cantrell who made All Region as a Freshman this year and Madison Hart who will probably be a Miss Basketball candidate and that is a good start. Summertown, Loretto and Clarkrange will all be loaded. Pickett County will be a contender as well. Union City will be very good as well. Greenfield and Bradford will challenge them as well “IF” we play. Health will determine a lot too. Gotta stay healthy. UCSportsFan
Clarkrange is by far and away the favorite with Loretto in 2nd. Let’s just hope our government doesn’t decide to strip us of our constitutional rights again!!!

I agree Clarkrange and Loretto are the favorites for sure. Summertown and Gibson County will be tough too. Greenfieldfan
Loretto is your team to beat next year.
ecu
So everyone has four obvious choices. Who are some surprise teams?
Jaychapman
Collinwood and Waynesboro should be improved in 12A

They will be right there in the top 5. They have everyone coming back. Cloudland may be a team on the East side. Greenfield and Bradford will be tough as well. Greenfield will take a minute to get going but will be a handful as well. I wouldn’t count out Gleason either. They are a team that had a lot of players get experience and was not playing bad when there starters were injured.
maddams
It definitely feels weird discussing next year without a state champion crowned for this season. I hate it for all the teams that didn't get to finish out their seasons. I can't imagine the disappointment. Next year will be very interesting. I don't expect that teams will get summer seasons, certainly not the normal summer season. That being said, this is what I see for next year: Clarkrange goes into next season as the favorite and it's not close. They bring back all of their major contributors from a team that could have won it this year. Coach Rogers has a great chance to get another gold ball. Gibson County will be a contender. Freshmen PGs usually have a learning curve but she should be settled in by tournament time. The older Hart keeps getting better. Wilkins is fantastic. Summertown will be tough. Lost no contributors to graduation. They were really good this year despite losing their leading scorer early in the season. If she fully recovers from her ACL repair, they could win the whole thing. Loretto will be very good. They will have the best player on the floor in every game they play. However, I think they take a small step back from this year's team. They lose a lot of length, leadership, and shooting with their graduating seniors. Weathers is good enough to take them to a title with above average supporting players. Pickett County belongs in this group too. I believe they only lose one senior. Their press causes problems for a lot of teams. Can they beat teams that handle their press? I think your state champion comes from one of these 5 teams with Clarkrange as the clear favorite. Union City, North Greene, and Cloudland will be good and could make state tournament runs
gogold
With all that's going on, do you think we'll play basketball this fall. Do we just play with teams and coaches, but no fans ? I did not think this a few weeks ago, but the way this is playing out I'm wondering. This time in our days is hard to believe and even imagine. If you can allow 300-800 students in schools and can’t put that many in stands we got problems. If the kids are in school sports will be played with fans, IMO. If not, there are bad problems. If we aren’t in stands watching basketball, they won’t be in school either, IMO. Now not saying there won’t be some safety measures in place which probably should be any way. No way, IMO they put HS kids on the floor without their fans. You start telling fans they can’t come they will quit altogether and the sport dies because there is no $$$$ supporting it.
