Interesting.

Bet that radio guy was just awful to listen to.  :popcorneater:

And that's one Powell folks still wish they had back.  Powell had cut the lead to 5 running the football in the second half, gets the ball back with 5 minutes to go in the 4th quarter at it's own 40 and decides to get pass happy.

Holding, another holding, incomplete, short gain then 2 more incompletions and before we know it it is 4th and the Alcoa Aluminum plant and opportunity gone.

But Maryville always just found ways to win those games.  That's why they are who they are.

During that era, Halls, Powell, Central, and West were all talented enough in given years to win 4A state championships, but none of them could ever get past Maryville.

HTV, thought just ran through my head. Who was the OC/QB coach for Powell that game? Might have been why we went to passing. lol

Barney,

You are a clown. You constantly mention WB and Heritage like we are on the same level. Heritage has had many winless seasons and WB has never had a winless season. Oh, and we have dominated them for over two decades. It isn't even close. We have also dominated other "bad" local schools like Karns and Campbell County.

Greenback has scored two touchdowns this season and the Govs are in position to make the playoffs for the second year in a row and finish 5-5 for the first time in over a decade. Get out of here with your nonsense.

With a little luck playing Cleveland you may just make the playoffs, I'm pulling for you all. Your confidence in their program sure means a lot, I don't see it but I'm sure glad someone does.

This kid lit Heritage on fire last week. I am so surprised his family would waste his talents at the ArmPit of Knox County Football  Karns. I swear they should have Karns, Heritage, Union County, William Blount, Sequoyah, Lenior City, Clinton, Seymour and Jefferson County in their own special conference for teams that will never in a lifetime be good no matter what they do.

Maybe because his parents live in the Karns zone is why he goes there.  Just a thought

wasn’t that game in the 2nd round and Cody watts? was the qb and they also had lee smith? Central would’ve been state champs probably from 03-05 had it not been for the red& black road block.

Central had great teams, playing in the highest class, in 1990-1991also. Lost in the semifinals to the state champ both years.

Karns are coming off a good week of practice im hearing. expect this to be closer than most think

Can Karns stop the Wing-T? While I hate this offense it must be heck preparing to go against the misdirection and when Rhea County is clicking it is hard to stop. And this year, with the added passing game you can't just stack the box. RC by a bunch.      GO EAGLES!

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
