Clay’s defense is their strength.  Pretty solid against both run and pass.  They have had trouble pressuring the QB at times.  4 of their offensive skill players are sophomores, highly talented, but have yet to come fully into their own.

That’s what I’ve noticed in the film I’ve seen on them, the defense is solid but the offense isn’t the best. Solid team overall though.

Their loss to Stone Memorial was riddled with missed offensive opportunities and the Panthers owned them up front.  The Gordonsville loss was a result of horrific field position the whole first half and honestly a lack of response when the Tigers hit em in the mouth early and often.  White County, even without their stud QB, was just too much for them, although after falling behind early they actually won quarters 2, 3, and 4, 7-6.  The Monterey loss was a battle that came down to OT.

I felt Clay had everything go wrong in the Monterey game. I still believe Clay is the better team, just not on the night it counted.

You are finally recovered from your visit to Englewood? :)

The Chargers wounded is pretty good in Englewood hard hitting team, but I still think it’s the worst officiating I’ve ever seen in my life. I couldn’t believe y’all pulled the upset last week, I bet you guys will draw strength from that win for years to come! Lol

So you’re saying you should have blown out Monterey too then?

I feel we should've won by more than we did. I feel that we've drastically underperformed the past few games. Not sure why, but it seems that way.

We spotted both Monterey and Fayetteville 13 and 14 points, respectively, before shutting them down. Jo Byrns hung around the 1st half when they shouldn't have. They had some help, though.

I watched the Monterey game online. I thought both teams played pretty good. You just take it easy on SP if we both make it to play our annual game.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
