I'm a grown man and congratulations to Fayetteville on the championship. You wanted it more and sure out coached us. Just hard at SP all these years to see all the athletes that have come through and no more State championships. I'll just keep my opinions to myself. Everybody knows what has happened.  Don't want to take away from Fayetteville on there great team victory.

Classy post, my man!

I watched Fayetteville City play Richland and the team I watched play Richland I would have never thought in a million years they would win the state championship this year.Congrats to Fayetteville City what you did was truly legendary and remarkable and will be talked about for years.Especially after what Huntland did to you all last year.

Good try but that was not Huntland last year Look at  who benefited from them being kicked out of the playoffs -   Richland.  Just saying.
As for this year - Congrats to Fayetteville. I was one of the naysayers based off of the games I saw in person but that’s why you play the game   Fayetteville played more heart and desire and earned the Gold Ball.  Congrats

Congrats to FC. they proved a lot of people wrong including my thoughts on the outcome of this game. Even though the roster was lopsided numbers wise SP was matched talent wise on the field in my eyes. This game was won in the trenches and was very surprised at FC line play. Looks like the west will have 2 powerhouses next year with FC looking to return to cookeville and with Peabody dropping down. At least it was a orange and black team that brought it home lol. We at SP have been spoiled and have the  mindset of if you don’t bring the gold ball home then you haven’t fulfilled anything. In my past 20 years of following SP if there isn’t a change soon then we all know the outcome. To me the HC is so used of having so much more talent than everyone else and when he gets behind or the original plan doesn’t work he gets flustered. He does not like playing from behind. We have seen this a lot in the past 10 years. The game is changing with younger bright minded coaches implementing their own ways and he needs to adapt and overcome. There is one big question that a lot of SP posters have already stated in here that will linger for a long time. Why didn’t 7 get a shot. It a whole new element to the game. Just my thought. Reminded me of Pruitt coaching the past few games playing a certain player every game when you have a highly rated QB on the sidelines not getting a shot. FC a big big congrats to you guys. You showed up and hit SP in the mouth and they didn’t have a response. FC coaches you prepared well and coaches well along with proper clock management. CONGRATS. I do like to stir the pot a lot but will give credit where credit is due and FC you earned my respect.  SP still has a lot of talent returning next year and we know everyone is shooting for so boys strap up and get ready.

Well, after watching the first half this morning...we got whipped on the line and had several missed blocks. Always defense wouldn't set the edge a lot and our backers were getting blocked all night. Fayetteville deserved it. I still would have liked to watch Richard play.

It is sad, there are so many grownups on this site that set terrible examples for our kids today bashing coaches & kids.  The Pirates lost to a very good Fayetteville squad who did what they had to do to win. My brother lived in the Fayetteville area and we talked about the great opportunity for this program to prosper quickly. This success will bring even more continued success for the program. Regards to all. Regardless of the lies written in these prior pages, the Pirates proudly took their Runner Up trophy. In fact it was loaded onto the ATV that hauled my grandson Jared Stone after he ended his career on crutches facing surgery and equipment back to the buses. Now to address my local neighbors up the road that regularly misrepresent honesty & good sportsmanship.  The Pirates will proudly put the trophy in their trophy case for all you jealous neighbors to view regularly. Life is too short to waste so much time regularly responding to people that usually have little integrity, knowledge or plain jealous of the accomplishments of another group of young men. That said, this football fan would like to give a huge shout out to the Fayetteville Tigers for winning their 1st State Championship. I was lucky enough to be on SP's 1st State Championship way back in 1969. As my teammates number diminish it increasingly becomes more important what is truly most important. Congratulations to the seniors for the Pirates for displaying leadership throughout your high school careers, while most can only wish for such success. Thanks for the memories, the Pirate program is strong and start the 2021 season off with expectations of returning to the state championship, as they do annually. Happy Holidays

First and foremost I hope your grandson recovers well from his injury. Never like seeing a young man taken off the field that way. Marion Co has had a few leave that way at Cookeville and I attribute some of that to the terrible playing surface, but that's a whole different argument. I wouldn't call it jealousy from your neighbors, just good old fashion ribbing because we get the same in return. Nothing wrong with a silver ball because that means at least you got there. Nothing you can do except suit up next year and try to do it again. A trip to Cookeville is the expectation every year for SP and for MC. You guys have made it what now 12 times? That's a huge accomplishment. MC has been to 10 State Championships including 1A, 2A and 3A.

Honestly it was second hand info about the trophy being left on the field and I wasnt totally sure. Someone did post a video showing the team leaving it on the field and one of the last few players walking off picks it up and carried it. I recognized him too. He transferred down from MC his junior year.

Congratulations on a great season.

I have stayed away from all social media since before our game.  I can only imagine what is being said and how everything is going to be analyzed under a microscope even if that microscope is our own personal microscope.  Or what have you.

I haven't read this thread before the game but I intend to at some point.  Just not now.

First off,  congratulations to Fayetteville.  And welcome to the club of football state champions.  Yall earned it.

Like I said,  I plan to finish reading the thread at some point but I may or may not comment any further.  Right now I just wanna say this one hurts.  SMH.  This one hurts boys.  Ain't  lyin'.
