The last time I went to Catholic gym it seemed quite small, especially for a game of that magnitude, if it were to take place in a normal year. From what I seen it may be a good thing they’ve all been held at the Wildcat Arena, but maybe my eyes were deceiving me? A series would be fun though, I agree.

Catholic can host a national powerhouse like IMG but somehow their gym is to small for Oak Ridge to come over and play in?

How many fans does IMG usually bring in? I’m guessing with them being all the way down in FL, not a whole lot? Sorry, I didn’t mean it as a slight against Catholic by any means. Just the feeling I got when I was there. Maybe it’s bigger than what I thought.

Compared to the Green Pavilion it’s small but I think the kids would love the atmosphere of a packed Irish gym. The IMG game was an INCREDIBLE setting for high school basketball.

What is the Green Pavilion? What was the score of the Irish vs (not really a high school team so doesn't really play high school basketball) IMG?

You can ignore my negative opinion of IMG. My feeligs are the same toward Hamilton Heights in Chattanooga. AND get this, I was close friends with the girls coach when we both taught together at Woodmore Elementary. Shot around with Treasure Hunt when she was a little girl. Gave Coach Hunt a copy of Oak Ridge Lady Wildcats Hall of Fame Coach Jill Pruden's book, Coach Hunt told me the next day she had put in place several plays she read in the book. It has been awhile since I have talked with Coach Hunt but I do cheer for Ham Heights when they play similar teams.

I'm assuming the Green Pavilion is Wildcat Arena. Back in January at the Dr. Pepper Classic IMG beat Catholic 79-52.  It was an 11 point game half way through the 4th but their size and depth took over and extended their lead.

Another good win for the Cats over Fulton.Overall I was happy with the last 3 games.Besides a good win tonight we played Catholic tuff and killed Cleveland.Speaking of gym sizes I always think about the Oak Ridge Fulton games when Tee was there. He was young and had that amazing game winner at the buzzer at Fulton. You couldnt fit another person in that gym and it was so tense and really wild.Everybody was pumped about the rematch the next year at Oak Ridge and was happy that everybody was going to be able to get in the gym but so many people showed up they had to quit letting people in.I never thought I would see a gym that big fill up for a non playoff game. After all that hype Oak Ridge beat Fulton like they had never been beat before(50PTS).But I thought it showed a lot about them that they went on to win it all a few weeks later.Covid will make u really miss those kinds of crowds because its what makes it so fun.

QSouth was right.... Green Pavilion =Wildcat Arena

Serious question- Do you all think the fans are too far from the floor at Oak Ridge?

This is hard to admit b  u   t   I have been in the Wildcat Arena only one time and it was in July. I have a neice who lost her Mom ( my sister ) to cancer. Another of my sisters took custady of her then she died of cancer. So quess what? A third sister who lives in Oak Ridge took custady. When my niece went on a tour of ORHS I tagged along to see the renovations. I got to see the new gym and was very happy. I do not recall noticing the distance the fans were from the court. I have seen many OR games on YouTube and the distance doesn't look too far.

Oh, to update my neice's life, she finished up at ORHS and came down to Chattanooga to attend UTC. She graduated and still lives here in Nooga. A very special person.

YES.....NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!...

Yesterday, late morning, it was announced Oak Ridge and Hamilton Heights ( Chattanooga ) had sceduled a game @ ORHS for next week! I was excited.

Yesterday, early afternoon, it was announced the Oak Ridge and Hamilton Heights game was called off! I was bummed.

I wonder what the story is behind this situation?

NEXT GAME...

Next Saturday, @ ORHS in the District 3 AAA Tournament.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
