We have also scheduled a multiple Kentucky state champ in the past.  And now a former Alabama state champion and a multiple state champ from NC.   Our scheduling ain't so bad.

They quit scheduling Lookout Valley after they got beat by them one year and played off their feet the following year.  Trenton, lol.

No sense in arguing with them PP68, both programs have done great things. The run Marion had in the 80's to mid 90's was something special and to be honest not many programs will ever be able to experience. Not many programs out there that can say they lost 1 game in 4 years and won 3 state championships in two different divisions. You fellas can poke fun at the old heads for bringing it up, but it is something to always be proud of and to have been grateful to be able to witness. 14,15, and 16 teams were very good who just happened to have bad timing Since the influx of talent SP has had beginning in 04, they have had a good stretch of success with few down years. You fellas should have way more gold in the trophy case. I believe we should have at least 2 more in the trophy case but sometimes the breaks just don't go your way.

You're right Old Faithful. I'm going to put sp in my rearview mirror. I'm not even going to open their threads anymore. I always just gave back what was given over the years. Sometimes you reap what you sow I guess. I know kids on sp team and even had family that played for them. They are one of the best 1A programs in the state no doubt and have always enjoyed stability and success. As you stated MC did enjoy one of the better runs ever for a senior class especially winning 3 titles (should've been 4) across 2 classifications. I was looking at some of the best programs we have beaten and it's not too bad of a list. Alcoa, Maryville, Brentwood Academy, MUS, Knox Fulton, Trousdale, Baylor, etc....

You are correct in the bad timing running into Trezevant with CR. Not too many times you see a D1 back in 2A ball in TN.

On to bigger and better things for MC program :thumb:

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
    • No movement on Chester? South Gibson? Gibson County?
    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
