6 on 6 High School Football in Tennessee?

6 on 6 Football has a place in Texas Football. Would it work in Tennessee or just not needed? I've watched some ESPN coverage and YouTube 6 on 6 and hope if we needed it we would have it.

I think all smaller programs, public & private, should entertain the thought of playing 8 v 8 football games.  I have seen games in Texas in person and they have just as much action, if not more, than regular HS football.  The TSSAA is looking into this opportunity.  There already is a league for very small non-TSSAA members that play.

It'll never happen.  There's not enough money to be made.  we already have 8 classes of 11 a side.  That does just fine for building crowds and making money.

8 man is on its way of being sanctioned by the TSSAA.  It will either be 6+2+eight man or 5+3+eight man.

There are already some 8 man teams in the mid state.  Most are small Christian schools.  I think they play on Saturday mornings around here.

I’m just not sure there is a market for it in Tennessee. IMO, they should cut back to 4 or 5 public classes in the eleven man game. Remember, prior to 1993, there were 3 classes for public and private combined.

I'd given up hope on that being the case. I just hope they leave it at 6 for the next 20 yrs and don't water it down any further

Well, since I cannot edit this post.  I will change the statement to might as well play Lacrosse.

Don't understand the negativity over 8man football.  If it allows some smaller schools to play football and the schools with low numbers to continue to play all I see is positive.  I know here in Mid Tn it seems to be successful.  5 public, 2 private, and 1 eight man classification.
