Rhea County at Alcoa

Well, I guess Rhea County will travel to Alcoa Friday night.  Curious as to what kind of talent Alcoa has back this fall?  I hope that the Golden Eagles can make this a good game.   As good as Alcoa is year after year, I guess that they are used to going against the old wing-t.  What's the latest, y'all?

Alcoa's lines are big, fast, and athletic. Their running backs are powerful AND explosive. I'd say their only weakness (if they have one) might be their kicking game.

Rhea County is always a hard-nosed hard-hitting bunch of guys that won't back down from any challenge.

I expect this to be close early with Alcoa pulling away in the second half.

I say Alcoa 34 Rhea 14

My guess would be the same also. They have a good qb also. Losing Cox, Sankey, Anderson and Carroll would almost do most programs in but they just keep reloading. Be interesting to see. Glad both teams got a tenth game to play at the last minute.

I'm unsure how Rhea's injury situation is coming out of camp.  If everyone is healthy, We should be able to compete.  I am thinking that Rhea's defense could have issues, if they don't wrap up.  We usually have good pursuit to the ball.  Rhea's offense returns a lot of experience.  Second year QB sophomore Kaleb Martin, and a second year back sophomore Ethan Davis.  Sr Jadden Pankey is pretty quick too.  I am thinking that most of the line is back this year too.  Some of the other folks from Rhea are probably better equipped to share what we have and how competitive we should be.

Injury wise we are ok coming out of fall camp. We will be without one of our starting OLB. He is out another 3-5 weeks. Otherwise  we are pretty healthy from what I’ve been told.

I agree the defense returns a lot of guys but if they don’t wrap up it could be a long night Friday. I think up the middle Rhea is solid but if they lose contain to the outside Alcoa could hit some big plays.

Offensively I think we will be pretty good. Kaleb Martin is a special player who has a lot of potential and could garner some D-1 attention over the next few years. I think the backfield in general is going to be very good. It will be interesting to see how the line handles Alcoa’s massive line.

Being the first game of the year. I think we will see lots of penalties and miscues but if Rhea can limit those i think we keep it interesting for a while. If we don’t it could get ugly

I have zero doubt in my mind that Alcoa will win this game, but they will for sure know that Rhea County was there after the ball game. Rhea is always tough and hard hitting, as 92Dragon above already alluded to. Last years playoff game when we went down to Rhea to play, we took care of them pretty good on the scoreboard, but that was one of the hardest hitting games I've ever seen on the HS level. Just a bunch of tough, hard-nosed, corn fed country boys. Best wishes to the Golden Eagles. Some great fans on here who love their Golden Eagles. Lots of respect.

That's why they line 'em up and play.  How's Alcoa's D?

Solid. But it’s like about every game besides 1 or 2 were the speed gets teams. We move to the ball very fast.  You may score early but after adjustments and the dline figuring out the blocking in the crazy wingt it will be hard to score against the Tornadoes. The problem for Rhea is going to be stopping the Tornado Offense.  they are one of the biggest olines I have seen in 30 yrs of Hs football and have a really good Mr Football level QB. Oh and they are really really fast too

    • It is what it is. Sorry DFL.
    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
    • You really mean the Price twin boys and Lyin Larry.
