You have one point right. Bearden is not very good. The players play hard but you can tell the coaching/scheme/knowledge by the coaching staff is very poor. They have no idea what they are doing on offense. They have plenty of players to be better. The HC has never been consistent in building a winning program. One playoff win since 2014. Probably averaging less than 5 wins a season. Not many we winning seasons in 7 years as HC. The players deserve a better HC/coaching staff.

BigTime always has a bone to pick with the Bulldogs. A couple of my colleagues on here have told me he is a disgruntled former staffer. Nonetheless, what are the bulldogs doing schematically that needs improvement on offense/defense?

If you take out 2014 when I believe there were hold overs from the previous staff  Shinlever is, according to coacht records, 3 games above .500 which is exactly what Bearden is since 1949 according to the Tennessee High School Football History website. So actually doing better than the average Bearden coach it looks like. 1 of 3 coaches in school history with a playoff win. Check the facts buddy boy!

Nice post. I’m guessing the Rocky Good era was about as good as it got.

Bearden Football Record - according to CoachT:

For the years:  '07 12-2; '08 8-3; '09 9-3; '10 9-4; '11 5-6; '12 8-3; '13 4-7  That gives record for those years as 55-28.

For the years:   '14 1-9; '15 6-5; '16 4-7; '17 6-5; '18 8-3; '19 5-7; '20 4-7  That gives record for those years as 34-43.

So JeffCo beats DB. Halls beat JeffCo. Another blow for the 6A superiority complex crowd.

Great logic. In 2019, Georgia State beat TN and TX State beat Ga State. So TX State was better than UT? You would benefit from actually learning something about the game of football before taking to the keyboard, troll.

He does know about the game, but you go on ahead and assume he doesn't...

Get a grip on reality, Bubba.

And HVA has been bad for a while, now.  This isn't an "abnormal" year.

"HVA has been bad for a while, now." However, they have the same number of playoff wins as your beloved Powell Panthers since 2013. Additionally, from 2013-2020, HVA has 43 wins and Powell has 37. And Powell plays 5A football. Seems to me like you should consider doing some research. Or at least define what you mean by "a while."

Yes, that is correct HSfootballan. I was referencing Bearden all time. 07-13 were good years. The SEC RB certainly helped against the likes of Lenior City and Halls!

So this is a Powell vs HVA thing?  Powell was awful from the time they hired that moron from Chattanooga until Matt came back.  And, yeah , HVA has been bad for most of its football existence. Only a short period of any success what so ever.

I laugh at those of you who believe I only have followed Powell football.

Anybody who has to call the self a Czar normally is nothing but a loudmouth blow hard.  This shoe fits in your case.

And I won't even dignify your slam about my football knowledge.  Apparently you aren't capable of understanding comparative analytics.

    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
    • He was pretty darn good for a freshman, but he will have a hard time seeing the field at Oakland for a good while, I’m afraid.
    • Dang I feel bad for the kid. I’m sure he loves his dad and wants to do anything for his dad but I don’t think he realizes his dad isn’t doing the best for his football career if he keeps jumping schools.
