I watched the link of Hampton and DB.  The dogs better start playing with some intensity or they'll go home.

Not our best effort for sure but we didn't go full bore either, you also have to realize  that Boone was leading Betsy in the 4th quarter and give Science hill a fit.  We moved the chains for the most part but penalties kept putting us behind the chains. But yeah ,It'll take a lot of effort to win this week.

I actually thought you were as good as them but it may be the smart play not getting in a dogfight before the playoffs.

The game didn't mean a thing and we sure didn't want to go into the playoffs beat to death. They would have been hard to beat regardless of what we did. Boone has one of the best defenses in upper East Tn.

All above correct. I knew what was and wasn't coming at Boone, BUT I expected more effort and desire to win. We have to block and tackle to win. Had we had greater effort in those areas, we could have left Friday night with the W and without  being beat up (although we did get beat up after all!)...Getting that W meant nothing more than knowing we could as we go into playoffs

Pal they lost their way a little bit since that loss to SG.  They need to fix their mindset.  The playoffs are unforgiving

King, the stuff I saw Friday night IS why we lost to SG! Gotta get it fixed between the ears! We need to be the team that beat PF; The team that showed up the 2nd half of the SG game

:thumb: I agree with Pujo. But if the effort is there, you can survive a mistake or two usually...can't survive a lack of effort. I'd say a few things have been addressed this week.

Agree you'll never have a perfect game but you can give perfect effort.

I keep goin back and forth on this game. Monterey is a tough ball club but they may have peaked just a little early. They have a dang good front 7 on the defensive side of the ball and offensively QB and RB is the key to the car. Hampton May have a slight edge at home but I believe it will be a close game for 4 qtrs.

All depends on the effort exerted. To be fair, at one point, we had only played 2 games in five weeks. We sure haven't peaked, so maybe we'll hit the right stride Friday and forward. We have the coaches,  size, athletes and a full stable of backs. Just gotta keep that head screwed on straight, every play.

Looked like they peaked last week against Wartburg. We layed an egg at Boone.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
